save system?
Been a long time since i played these games and just wandering how the save system works.
Does the save state start you at the beginning of whatever section you are in or does the save state load you directly back into the moment you saved?

Im thinking it works like the first?

If it does work like the first why didnt they improve on this system with a quicksave feature?
Perhaps thats something that could be modded in or a program already exists which can do it. Basically like emulation save utility which is perfection.

Cant remember that well but a few years ago i remember using a 3rd party program in order to have custom quicksaves for a certain unknown game. If i found it again, not sure if it would work on this game or the other two.

the save starts you just as you were when you enter an area
anything you do afterwards in there is not saved

Do not take this man's advice, that does not work on the PC port. I had to replay multiple bosses because I lost progress

anything you do inside the area you saved wont carry over to your next session
i.e. you save during the virtuous missions area where you can pick up the SVD; if you pick it up, save and exit, you wont have picked it up when you reload.
saving only takes into account anything up to the zone you saved in

Um... that's literally how the save system works. You save when you enter a new area.

As the other guys said, it works like your first example. This works to your advantage for the Foxhound achievement if you choose to do it on Extreme: you can just run around with a life med on, and if you ever use a life med or get an alert, you can just save and it won't count towards your stats as long as you don't leave the room.

As for why they didn't change the save system, the main reason is because that's not how it was in any of the previous releases. If you want to play the game with those kinds of changes, you want the remake, not the Master Collection.
