But yeah, i don't recall this fight in Snake Eater ever having a controller port mechanic for The End; that's something specific to the Psycho Mantis fight.
It is literally a who finds who fight, pure and simple. If you wanna skip the fight, change your clock ahead by a week.
what are you even talking about? The End never read your moves
that being said if you have trouble finding him, press R3, it switches to the old camera mode, and USUALLY this is a disadvantage, however, during The End fight, occasionally your viewpoint will switch to The End's sniper scope, so atleast you will know hes targeting you

you can use thermal goggles to see his footprints this'll make finding him easier
if you dont have thermals you can use the d.mic to listen for him (after you damage him he'll start to wheeze making it even easier to find him)
I lick the L1 and R1 buttons of every controller I own the moment I remove them from the packaging
