Emulation or ports?
I don't care if the port is a bit flawed but would emulation be a better way to play? Question applies to MGS2 as well.

as of now, its better off to emulate it

Until the issues such as awfully compressed sound quality, lack of PC options even as basic as resolution and general visual mess and such, are fixed, which they hopefully will be, it'd probably better to emulate.
I will say though, the port at least runs very well, so there's that.

That is tragically sad and pathetic. Oh well, at least I have a good pc for emulation.

emulate it because the sound quality is screwd in this release. The compression of the audio files is worse than how they were in the HD collection 2011

Just like the Silent Hill HD Collection that they botched, probably better to play it by "other means" for now

At least with this one they have some glaringly obvious incentive to fix and tune these ports to be what they deserve to be, that being that doing otherwise might negatively affect MGS3 Delta, and a possible volume 2 MGS collection as well, because if the first one released in an awful state and never got fixed, what confidence would there be that the same wouldn't just happen with the second volume as well?

Call it foolishness, but I'll stick by hoping for them to actually take fixing the ports, seriously. Most likely they were rushed for whatever reason anyways.

Yes, but when it comes to MGS2 and 3, you more than likely need a better rig.

I've emulated up to MGS4 before as a kind of stress test. I've done MGS3 for a bit but heard you needed pressure sensitive controls to make progress. Any advice/input on that?

You don't need sensitive controls to be able to finish MGS3
