Audio SUCKS (+4K fix)
The audio quality in this game is all over the place.
A lot of it is fine, but seemingly random sound effects, voice lines and even the damn title theme has what might be the worst audio quality I've ever come across in a game.
I don't remember this being an issue in the HD collection version, or even the PS2.

Have Konami acknowledged how bad this collection is? Are they actually going to do anything about it?
I could go on and on about minor issues of this lazy collection but this one is really bugging me and I don't see it talked about.

This is my fave series of all time and seeing it dormant for years to come back with no effort or care is just insulting.

!PS! if you want to play MGS3 in 4K search for "MGSResolutionPatch" on GitHub. Lets you set custom resolutions up to 4k. Works perfectly for me in MGS3 (in 1440p), and apparently works in MGS2 but causes some UI issues.

Oh they were absolutely aware, but why should they care? It'll sell based on the name and legacy alone, that and people's allergies to doing research before making purchases.

Maybe don't buy trash ports next time. Literally everyone with a brain knew this port would be a total disaster. Just play the game on PCSX2 or RPCS3 - whichever you prefer. The emulators run this game flawlessly, 60fps, any resolution you want, they even have AI upscaled textures if you want them...

But hey, who am I to stop you from giving Turdnami $60 for the absolute lowest effort ports digitally possible? You do you

Don't forget to keep BEGGING this multi-billionaire industry colossus to give you the absolute bare minimum features.

Well you clearly didn't read the op.

You seem angry at me in particular. I didn't give Konami $60, I gave a key reseller about $40 (and yes I know it still isn't great value).

I'm not suggesting other people buy it, it's completely the opposite. But I've been dying for PC versions of the series for years and as a huge MGS fan I was always going to complete my collection. I still have all the physical original releases and 2011 remasters and have played these games regularly for decades.

But as a customer that paid money for a product, I'm perfectly entitled to complain about problems with my product.

What entitles you to have autistic fits of rage at strangers on forums?

I'm at "fireman" and never noticed anything strange, and I have only played the PS2 version so I would have seen if something was up, share your PC config maybe we can find something there.

The audio for mgs2 and mgs3 is horribly compressed and mixed. Is there any fix for this yet? any mods?

If there are fixes you'd heard about it by now

There will most likely be a fan made fix, we just need to wait. Overwriting all the audio with HQ versions is gonna take some time. So i'd estimate we got a month or two.

The audio needs to be reported as an issue and redone by Konami with the PS5 versions wich sounds fine btw.

^ Guys, ignore posts from fanboys and drones trying to blame your hardware for problems of the porting job.

At minute mark 2:25 (MGS2) and 3:47 (MGS3) you can confirm the audio issue with a direct comparison:

There really isn't much that can be done i don't think in regards to the audio quality, unless a modder does some kind of wizardry; which is what will likely happen.

This is simply a product of what and when this port was built for; this is THE HD collection just re-ported to new generations of consoles and now PC, the ports themselves have not been altered or changed from their respective 2010-2012 releases; the only change is the inclusion of all 3 region versions of the game, NTSC-U, PAL and NTSC-J.

Whatever issues or problems carry over are old port problems caused by Bluepoint, and just problems that have no real or easy solutions because these are old games, which carry 'old game problems', and these problems only become more apparent when they make console or technology era jumps.

EDIT: I will say i can only speak for what i'm experiencing with this collection here on PC; if other versions are having a better day in the sun, then who knows why.

What are you talking about? Despite this master collection having the logos of the HD collection everywhere, things have changed. This audio issue was never present in the original HD collection. There were actually a few graphical issues that were fixed yet others were confusingly left untouched, still missing effects from their OG counterpart. MGS3 actually looks worse than it's HD edition counterpart with the anisotropic filtering being turned down in the master collection. There are new fps drops in pre-rendered cutscenes in MGS2/3. I could go on, but these ports are downright downgrades to the HD edition which is quite unfortunate. Saying they're the same is straight up lying and konami shouldn't keep getting away with putting in the bare minimum

@chloers if you wanna fix the AA issue you can do it in the Nvidia control panel (asuming you use Nvidia) and change the settings there. They should have added basic gfx options to the games menu, but left that out due to laziness i suppose? Edit: Also I've noticed just how bad the audio is in some places as speech for the guards are really crunchy sounding.
