(!) pressure sensitive buttons (!)
Dude, come on (!)

Can we upvote this so Konami will actually add them back in?

I'm so sick of these lackluster ports.

I just want to be able to aim the damn AK or other automatic without firing it off like a moron.

Press L3.
You can press L3, but then you stop readying the weapon when you shoot once. Is there some way to aim and shoot multiple shots without hitting L3 and then holding L1 and R1 and then hitting Square each time?

"add them backin"

how can you add a thing that doesn't exist on controllers and keyboards anymore? '-'
Jesus.

It's like you guys haven't played a racing game before.

You can easily emulate this. Do you think it's an on-and-off button, Jesus Christ.

2. If it's a niche controller (PS3), it's not going to work properly on PC. In that case, for controllers like that to work then, you'll have to emulate them to be Xbox 360 controllers. This is how Steam Input makes said controllers functional.
*Laughs at you while playing with my DualShock 3 using native Windows drivers with full support for pressure sensitive buttons, with Steam Input disabled*

That emulator supports pressure buttons though?
PCSX2 does support pressure sensitive buttons. Been using it that way for a long time with my DS3.
RPCS3 too.

Also, I recently found out that the GTA games have patches that restore pressure sensitive DualShock button support. Just wanted to spread the word.

Ok buddy. Let's just make it where we can fire weapons using the triggers...

Oh wait, can't do that. Taken by item and weapon menu. The only thing left on the list is the analog sticks, and we can't use left since that's already set to moving.

So that leaves the right stick. Imagine using the right stick to fire a weapon. Bluepoint can, because they actually made the Coolant in 2 function this way. Imagine playing the games like that.

Starting to see the problem yet, or do I have to spill it for you?

But since you're so insistent on making it work...

Go into Steam Input for either 2 or 3, and replace Weapon Menu (R2) with firing your weapon, which is Square. Now set L3 to soft pull on right trigger. There, now you'll ready your weapon when you slightly pull R2, and your lean right button is on square. Have fun figuring out where to put lean right now, because I'm not doing it for you. Did I forget to mention they put leaning on the triggers already and that's why we're having this problem?

1. What controllers nowadays have pressure sensitive buttons?

2. If it's a niche controller (PS3), it's not going to work properly on PC. In that case, for controllers like that to work then, you'll have to emulate them to be Xbox 360 controllers. This is how Steam Input makes said controllers functional.

3. In which case, that would defeat the purpose since 360 controllers does not have pressure sensitive buttons, putting you back at square 1.

4. Let's say you found the perfect controller that works on PC with no issues and has proper pressure sensitive buttons. How niche is it? How much dollars do we have to shell out for ONE controller that's going to work on 3 games at most (MGS2, 3, and 4 if and when that one happens).

You wanting Konami to be 100% authentic will make the game unplayable for 99% of the playerbase. I think axing Pressure Sensitive buttons at that point is justified. Still want pressure buttons? I have a much better solution for you:

The Master Collection already supports both XInput and Steam Input (which, contrary to what you seem to think, is not just an XInput translation layer, but its own API), so adding support for DS3 drivers for authenticity's sake wouldn't mean removing support for the other APIs.

Never said it didn't. The crux of the problem would be the DS3's support on PC is... Lackluster, at best. Let's just say there's a good reason why we emulate 360 over PS3 controllers.

Almost all games work off the back if we use a 360, meanwhile issues getting to the PS3 controller to work can be summed up by using a 360 controller instead. At least, that was the case during that console generation

Yes I remember my first time playing Gran Turismo 6. It was very unintuitive for my thumb so I remapped brake and accelerate to L2 and R2 respectively.

I immediately felt faster. I never went back to pressure sensitive buttons for that game. Shame MGS3 HD pretty much requires them.

It feels wrong with the triggers. I tried swapping circle/B with L2 and square/x with R2 on a ds4 with pcsx2. The trigger felt way too sensitive to consistently aim and lower without shooting. And, though this is probably a me problem, swapping shoot and melee to triggers, the two face buttons wouldn't work for opening the item/weapon menus. Not sure why that was an issue.

This is not reddit kiddo.
It can be coded the length of time you tap or hold the button. That's not hard and a perfect substitution for pressure sensitivity
Emulators support pressure sensitive buttons and there are new controllers that you can buy that have them, some retrogithers gamepads have them.

Play on the pcsx2 and put the shot and melee buttons on the triggers and you have pressure buttons.

Everyone always says this but it does not work. I’ve been trying to figure this out forever with MGS2 (pcsx2) on steam deck.
