The solution is to press L3 to ready your weapon. Or do it the old fashion way and get a sticker and stick it in the middle of your screen
Give an extra command to L1 to give it L1, with a sub command of L3. Press cog around the second L1 command, and set it to chorded press. Then press cog again and go into settings, and have chorded button be R1
In theory, this makes it so when you hold R1 and then press and hold L1, you ready the weapon and look down sights if it has it. Pressing L1 normally will still have it be L1 by itself. If you fire a weapon and stop, you'll put it down. Simply press L1 again to bring it back up.
I'll test it out myself if you're curious on the results
In all honesty, it'd be better to just put a sticker on screen where the crosshair would be. If the HD Collection made L3 persists between shots it wouldn't be a problem.
