PCSX2 or this?
Seeing some resolution mods here and there, is the steam official version worth it paying and playing over the PCSX2 emulated version?

PCSX2 can be up to 4k but its 30fps, this is 720p with no mods but 60fps. pick which you prefer more.

Are you using a dualshock with pressure sensitive buttons? That would be the deal breaker. If you are, then PCSX2. However, you are not, then this one the 4K mod is the better choice. Both options have their warts.

Put shoot and melee on the triggers and they work like pressure buttons.

PS2 version also has the Monkey Escape game, which is TONS of fun.

They removed it for this release.

You are asking if you should pirate the game via emulation or legaly get it.
Of course the answer will be to legaly get it, since there is no online I doubt that you'll have trouble using mods and such.
You are asking if you should pirate the game via emulation (lol what 2 separate things) or legal(l)y get it. Of course the answer will be to pirate it. Since it's been long supported by a community of fans, and is entirely free, I have no doubt you'll have no trouble using mods and such.

Thing is when it comes to emulation with these games nothing is stopping you from using legally owned copies to play them. I can take my PS2 copies of MGS 2/3 and then play those on PCSX2 by putting those discs in my computer and copying the files to my computer. No I'm not sharing the files online and yes this is perfectly legal to do so long as I don't share the files online. So no emulation is not piracy and you can emulate games you legally own easily as well.

In all fairness, it was removed with the first collection release. MGS3 also had some bonus camos (some got in), as well as the first iteration of MGO. Pretty much anything that wasn't on Disc 1 never made it.

psx2 still doesnt look as good - this version is like the ps3 one with actual better textures - not just res. and now you can play this version in 1440p or 4k with a very simple mod. so its 4k 60 now with the better textures.HD Collection on RPCS3 is another choice. Im happy with this steam version though, especially since i use a steam deck as well. Either way - RPCS3 or Steam version - both have hd textures and both can do 4K 60FPS
