50 save game files cap - CONFIRMED
I was playing through earlier on, I went to save the first completion, no problem. Went to save the second completion and I could no longer save to a new slot. I could overwrite a previous save game but not create a new. Seemed odd to me in the age of "near limitless" storage, so it feels like a hangover from when the HD Collection was ported to the PS3/XBox360.

Can anyone confirm this is true? Has anyone else hit this cap?

Definitely a 50 save file cap on the game for some reason. You can save in slots 00-49 but after that, you're going to be overwriting save files.
Make a second account, buy the game again and BOOM you'll have 50 more save. :DMCJester2:

:lunar2019laughingpig: yeah, at the rate I play, that's a new game every few weeks. Konami would be so proud of me. :steamfacepalm:

Lmao yeah. Well to be more serious I don't know If a mod would help you with that, heck I don't even know how you can use all slots when technicaly the game is short (can be finished under 3 hours) and you can save your complete run on each others as it will save your Dog tags and such.

I remember that there was a mod list so maybe If you asked there you could get some help or ask in a MGS forum or something, as you can see MGS forums aren't that active.
I'll avoid quoting the Joker, first off!

Anyway, speedrunning is how I filled all those slots. :WH3_greasus_rofl: Each completed run gets it's own slot so I can compare completion times across multiple runs. At an hour and a half (ish) for each run gets me 50 slots over a few weeks, and I literally only save after a completion.

Each completion being given its own slot gives me chance to see how I am improving over each run. An average run of 1:27:00 and 2 or 3 runs a night, I can easily fill slots. My solution was to erase some save games and start some new records. I erased everything in my game save folder from save_00 thru to save_47 to give me more slots to play with. Saves_48 and 49 have all my dogtags, my stealth suits and other special items.

If push comes to shove I can ask the speedrun community on Discord and chat to some people there about it. But, then, this thread can also serve as a PSA to other users that there is a hard limit on how many saves you get access to.

My dog tags are safe and sound. And completion screens can be captured after the credits roll out. Keeping those saves just avoids me keeping an Excel spreadsheet of results.

I do have MGS2 Substance edition on PC-DVD, HD Collection on PS3 and this collection so, I can truly keep a whole bunch of saves! ;oD
Here's a recent screenshot to show why I use up 50 save slots.

Why not use Livesplit like speedrunners do ?

You can do splits and If you really want to save the time of all your records you could write it on notepad. Seems like a good solution to me.

I will look into it. I have seen an autosplitter script is available for Substance but not the Master Collection version. If I can get an autosplitter to pump out a csv table or something, then that's what I will use. I will get on Discord and ask for advice on there.
