GAME CRASHES ON START
Using Windows 10.
Launcher works just fine, however when I try to launch the game itself, I just get booted to Windows. No error message, just straight to desktop. Tried installing japanese language pack, tried running as administrator, tried compatibility mode - all for nothing.

Has anyone got a fix?

I had the same Problem. This helped me: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2131650/discussions/0/3879347492856387175/

(also, there is a dedicated section on the "essenatial mods for mgs" discussion page.

This is for MGS3. Did you try it with MGS2 as well?

I've done all of that and now I can't even run the launcher. I'm getting the following message:

"Failed to initialize player
Failed to initialize graphics.
Make sure you have DirectX 11 installed, have up to date
drivers for your graphics card and have not disabled
3D acceleration in display settings.
InitializeEngineGraphics failed"

What are your specs? Laptop or desktop?

It's desktop. GeForce GTX 680 2GB, DirectX 12, drivers up to date, i7 processor. The game runs after disabling graphics card (forcing it to run from processor's gpu), but it's very slow. So the problem has to be graphic's card. Is there a way to "translate" the graphics data to my GPU or sth?

I see. It could be that the game relies on an instruction set that is too new for your GPU hardware, but I can't say for certain.

In your GPU control panel, are you able to manage the game's options and force it to use the GPU?

How do I access my GPU control panel? Do you mean the device manager in settings?

No. It should be an icon in your system tray, but you can also go to your desktop and right click and the option to open it should show up there.
