It seems true since I had to rety a lot........ Damn Vamp1 was easy as heck but Vamp 2 really was hard, I'm in arsenal and I was like "Ok If I have full ammo I can help Snake during the fight"........... my rear ! I have 8 bullets in my M9 and less than 10 in my PSG1T.
Since It's been years since I've played MGS2 I don't have much experience, the only run I did was a HARD run because you don't unlock EXTREME.
I was planning my saves like this:
- Tanker clear
- Fortune fight
- Fatman fight (fight = during)
- Harrier fight
- Vamp 1 fight
- Sniping
- Arsenal (beginning)
- Metal gear
But after doing the hard run I was like "yeah not realistic" so currently:
- Tanker: Soldiers fight
- Plant: Beginning
- Fortune fight
- Fatman done
- Harrier fight
- Vamp1 done
- Vamp2 done
*Free save*
At Vamp2 done I'm at 1:54:??
Fatman, Harrier and Vamp2 was the biggest issue, now it's Snake because everyone want to clap his big c----
Since this version is apparently different tricks for arsenal won't work aside 1........ I was like "Should take 5 hours max" but it's been like 1-2 days since I'm at it........ No wonder why I've saved this last LMAO.
Pretty sure some speedrunners can yeet it in less that 1 hour and a half but I don't know any patterns so the bomb disarming was brutal, especialy that one below the harrier because it's on a damn metal box.......
I'm sure I can beat MG and the rest without much trouble but who knows....... If i can't even reach RAY then....
Good thing that I love a challenge.
For the Snake team up, you can skip the first room by leaning on the door, then do the full combo while in FPV. I forgot where, but if you exit FPV at a certain timing you'll clip through the wall similar to Boba Skip.
For room 2, kidnap one of the dudes with the sword into the previous area, and do not kill or knock him out. If done right, Snake will solo the entire room. Alternatively, tranq Snake and go South, and use the coolant to stunlock everyone and time scam them all.
EE Rays is arguably the hardest boss fight in MGS history. There's an easy trick to this fight, but I'd assume you want this one to be a challenge at least. Just know that this fight is the gatekeeper of Big Boss rank.
I did those for the Snake part: Doesn't work. Snake always die at the end or wake up , it feels like for the second phase it's not on a timer but on the number of ennemies downed.......
Here's two videos showing how to do the skip.
Tengu 2 choke skip

Tengu 2 Coolant skip (you don't need turbo, just keep letting off the coolant every now and then)
https://youtu.be/6rc38-y0EUE?si=Vxn4W-4Y9hz75z6U
Yeah I know about these, doesn't work for me.
I've made a save for the second phase because I can't reach it everytime.
Now I'm dying to MG mostly, the trick to clear phase 2 tengus was to become Raiden from MGR.
I'll try another day, the STINGER F'ed me two time (It relock to another target sometimes).
EDIT: Like here.

Doing it this way seems faster, I could *freeze* 2 batch of ennemies and the game won't seem to prgress (Snake wake up in between).
Thanks, now I got the highest ranks on all MGS games in the collection.
Solidus was easy, first try.
RAY battle was more about not letting the one in the middle launching the knee missiles, otherwise the rest could have been worse.
I'm so happy to have done it, I've never went for BIG BOSS/FOXHOUND before but now I did, and MGS2 would have been easier if I completed it multiple times instead of just once to unlock EXTREME/E.E.
