How to disable image stretching on ultrawide monitors?
I've tried to keep the game from stretching on a monitor using 3440x1440 resolution without luck. The new Master Collection menu displays just fine but as soon as the game starts it stretches to fill the entire screen.
I've tried different settings on Nvidia control panel on the "adjust desktop size and position" tab and disabled all scaling and the image still stretches.

Anything else I can try or is this something that must be patched in the future?

You'll have to wait for modders. 21/32:9 is not supported and there's no chance Konami will patch this in. The GOG versions were able to achieve ultrawide through mods but right now there is no way to play natively.

Sure. Native ultrawide resolution would be nice but what I'm asking is how do I prevent the game from stretching and keep it's original HD collection 16:9 aspect ratio?

You will need to go into your GPU control panel and choose no aspect ration scaling or something to that tune. You can then choose 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 in-game and it will adjust to those with black bars rather than forced stretching.

Thank you for your answer. Sadly it didn't work. I tried both resolutions. I also tried to check the "override scaling mode set by games and programs" and it didn't help either. The game still stretches to fill the screen. This is the only game that so far has done this on my system as every old pc game using non-ultrawide resolutions display correctly.

That's annoying. I take it Konami haven't included a ratio option in the settings at all?

No, there isn't a single option for image. The new Master Collection menu is apparently a borderless window screen and it looks just fine but as soon as you start MGS2 the game switches to 720p image and goes fullscreen. No options for windowed or borderless either.

Use Special K mod.

Does it work with MGS Master Collection games without issues?

it works with it but for some reason it hates going in to 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 makes it have a small box so im not sure to get it to a higher res without it acting retarded

So it makes the situation only slightly better?
Sounds like I have to either wait for a patch or just refund.

Heres my workaround.

It basically is just changing the resolution but eh it works for me.
