Black bars on each side.
The game runs well but I have blacks bars on each side of the screen as if the game doesn't fill my whole screen. I play on a 4k tv. Never had this issue before. It does not affect the launcher, only the game itself. MGS 3 has the same issue. Anyone knows how to fix this?
Thanks :)

I wish I had black bars :D My issue is completely opposite using a 3440x1440 resolution on both MGS2 and 3. Both games stretch to fill the entire ultrawide screen and these are the only games I have these kind of issues also.

its locked to 1080p.

Or you can play the HD collection on RCPS3 (if you got good enough specs) in 4K or whatever res you want at 60 FPS.

Thanks but no, I tried emulation and I want the official thing. I Know the port is far from perfect but I don't mind the lower resolution nor the fps lock. I would like my screen to be filled however!

that's gonna be normal, to subvert this they give you the option for wallpaper in the menu

No, there is no Wallpaper for MGS2 and MGS3. For the older games (MG, MG2 and MGS1) there are wallpaper but I would expect the HD games to be full screen like they were back then on PS3 and X360.

Sorry. Konami can't match the talents of modders with no source code access.

This launcher was made for the OG PC port of MGS 2 years ago. Proper widescreen, any res you want. Also added x-input controller support. Fixed many bugs in the release (go figure)

I have the same issue when playing on my tv, my pc monitor is fine, Vertical Pillar boxed for both MGS2 and 3.

I've tried everything, resolution change, both desktop and Active signal, 1080p, 720p, various gpu scaling settings, doesnt matter.

In the end the only way I could fix this issue was to duplicate display with my pc monitor set as main, Problem fixed sorta.

To the best I can tell its an issue in the emulator konami is using, as steam is still seeing 16:9 as can be seen when the fps counter is on. My monitor is dp, and tv hdmi, could be a factor.

The MGSResolution mod is what you need. Find out the proper screen resolution that your TV has, and set your window x and y with it. Although the mod can do 4k, I recommend against it as it affects UI in a way it has to be warned apparently.

The same file will work on MGS3 as well. If your PC can handle it, it can run 4k without any UI issues.

Blame Konami for not having the foresight on how being able to adjust resolution would solve a lot of problems.

I'm getting the same pillars on my 4k TV even with the resolution mod.

Have you changed the window x and y too?

I was going to, but its was set to 4k by default when I looked?

If you're using the mod and still getting black screens use Special K, launch MGS2 with it, and change the aspect ratio in the special k game menu to 16:9 also with Special K still open in game check to see what resolution the game is actually running at if it isnt your native res click that override button so it starts using native resolution too.

this is what i did to fix it and have the game running at 4k with no black bars.

my fix was by setting my tv 4096x2160 instead of 3840x2160
