Like bro what were you expecting? Konami was very transparent that this collection is just a convenient way for people to play the original games. It was never meant to be anything more or less than that. Emulation can be a pain in the ass and not everyone wants to deal with the issues and inconvenience that come with emulation. With this collection, all you have to do is boot the game up and it just works. Also not everyone plays on PC. You can't run an emulator on a PS5 without going through the trouble of hacking it (which is stupid to do in my opinion because at that point why not just buy a PC?)

They also seem to be patching out bugs from the original collection (which people like to conveniently forget exist) so there's that.

Still don't think the price is worth it? Ok... Then don't buy it. Simple as that.

But yeah I guess you do have a point. They should re release these games for today's standards. with 4k graphics.. Perhaps even a whole graphical overhaul... in a new modern engine with updated controls... Maybe name it something like "MGS Delta". idk what do you think?

Because for a multi-billion dollar corporation to sell a collection of old games for $60, I think people have every right to expect some basic quality of life settings.

You're saying "not everyone plays on PC"... On a forum for a platform only available on PC. I think PC owners have every right to say they're annoyed with the state of the game on a forum specifically for PC owners. Also I think people have a right to be annoyed when features aren't specifically as advertised (e.g. only 720p rather than 1080p).

Sounds like you don't like hearing opinions other than those similar to yours 🙃 And also surely it's possible to say a person enjoys the collection whilst also being critical of the lack of effort from the devs? They're not mutually exclusive?

For what it's worth, I bought it for Steam Deck fully expecting it to be broken in some way, knowing the crazy amazing Metal Gear modding community will fix it if Konami doesn't. And I was right! It crashes before I get to gameplay 🙂

That's what's crazy to me, is that the games are worse than advertised. $60, but we're the entitled ones for expecting a massive company like Konami to put more than minimal effort to allow us to do basic stuff like upscale the resolution or not have to play MGS1 with a forced on texture filter that blurs everything. Really makes me appreciate Halo MCC more for the amount of effort put into it while being only $40.

Oh, true. I think I restarted my PC and it seems to of fixed it. Everything is now in English. I'm not sure what happened. But yeah, I agree with the whole game. It feels like they didn't actually do much with the game, the basic mechanics are there but Konami must of just did a port rather than reworked it.

You know Konami could have just said "Screw you. No PC release period." But they didn't. They gave us what the consoles also got. Wanting anything more than that is just entitlement.

I don't have a problem with other peoples opinions. I have a problem with people acting like they're entitled to something that was never promised to them. If the games were bugged to hell or something I could understand that (and maybe they are idk haven't played enough of them yet).

I also bought for Steam Deck. it's unfortunate it doesn't run properly. but that's an issue with Proton that Valve will have to sort out.

Don't bother its a mix of trolls and people who have never even touched these games before so they have no idea how they work and demand features that only ''recently'' get put into MODERN games ( and in certain cases older games as well but these situations vary quite alot ).
I am not trying to defend Konami oh hell no but the things i read on several other Game discussions and here are quite worrying for the future of Mankind.
The ports certainly have issues but i feel like quite the number of them are either user inflicted or something that a simple re-install wouldn't fix.

What was i expecting? A basic port, basic widescreen HD resolution support for MGS1, resolution and audio options for the rest, the barebones... couldn't even get that.
I haven't bought it yet i'm just judging by the discussions which are all over the place, waiting on a digital foundry video to set the record straight, i already have alternate ways to play these games but decent PC ports would be ideal.

This. All I expected was your basic PC settings, some enhancements for MGS1 like you can do on an emulator, and that's it. They couldn't even do that. MGS2 doesn't even have fullscreen! This was Konami's chance to show how serious they were about returning to the video game market and they managed to make every single dev on Itch io look like gods.
