2) It FIXES IT?!?!?!?
I dunno about steam overlay causing disc read error, in that case every deck user should get hit with it. But the opposite is true, deck users report all sorts of problems outside of disc read error.
a way around it, should be skipping the cutscene that's giving you the image of missing disc, for me, it was the cutscene of E.E dying on the arms of Hal, after that i didnt have any more trouble.
Does anyone have a video of this happening ingame?
Are you running windows 11?
i run win 11 but i can do a video for you^^

There is a Clip😀
The problem I think is the convoluted Blueprint files + the added game launcher files are causing this scene to not be found or its getting corrupted somehow.
Something is messing this part up BC it was fine my first play through. Now it freezes now matter what even if its a new game.
Using the save data provided from Redbird
Windows 11 on steam deck, disc read error.
Main PC Windows 10 on external HDD, disc read error.
Main PC but on built in SSD, cutscene plays.
The Cutscene in question not loading fast enough may be our problem here. The game jumps right into the cutscene without any time to load. Running as admin and disabling overlay DOES help with performance so it may be linked to load times
Grabbing videos of the game on my main PC, may take me a moment

Third test on main PC using built in SSD
