Disc read error mgs2?

I got an error while playing mgs2. shows a flashing CD with a ? in upper right corner. like a disc read error that you would see on ps2. anyone else have thise issue?

Anyone suffering this issue, could you try opening task manager and putting this game in high priority?

Also raybees, can you share your save file where you keep getting disc read error? I wanna see if it gets yhe error on mine too

I put it in High priority still nothing, I've messed around with the properties of the file changing it to run as administrator. I loaded up a save from earlier on and it still pauses at the same point.

I think the cut scene can't be found or was deleted? Idk it makes no sense that it worked fine my first play through and now it just doesn't, also the fact that it happens at the same point to multiple people. My PC settings were the same when it worked.

I've now tried deleting the mgs2 folder manually, then reinstalling. It is still pausing on the same cutscene. I can hear the first few seconds of it and see an outline of snake and Otacon. Does anybody know where the cut scenes are in the local folders?

only way I outplayed the disc error was going through the shell 1 1st floor in a circle from the claymore blocked area that goes to the lockers to the elevation

Just running in a circle? Like one lap around the room. And that's it?

Does it prevent you from playing entirely? Or just the savefile? Very confused what is happening here. There's no work arounds it seems.

I have tested running as Admin. I have speedran Both Shell-Plant, and Plant Only on Very Easy and Normal. Everytime without fail when I enter the elevator going to Shell 1 B1 to watch the cutscene where E.E. dies and Raiden is whisked away to Arsenal the game will freeze. Upper right corner of HUD will display ? and then a cd.

@Snake1982 Were you ever able to get through this part? I made it through once, and now every time it freezes. I have tried every solution, this game is straight up broken and unplayable. Konami NEEEDS to patch this one.

Does playing on Hard mode prevent this issue?

Did you manage to finish the game somehow or is it permanently broken for you?

This doesn't seem to be as widespread an issue as the save corruption bug, but I haven't seen any fixes or seen anyone figure out a pattern yet.

i still have the problem, and still havn´t find a fix i tryd every difficultly but still same problem

Okay might have figured it out. Had the same problem. I turned off steam overlay and ran it as administrator in the actual files instead of the steam app.
