MODS FOR MGS MASTER COLLECTION
How moddable y'all think this will be?
Can we hope for 4k 144fps hi-res textures? Am I gonna be able to play as CJ fighting Ocelot while Big Smoke is tied to a pillar? Or are we still in a dream?

When Square Enix announced their port of Chrono Cross for Steam people went ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the possibilities. After it was launched, though, we found out the game was barely moddable due to it being a straight up emulation. To this day we don't have more than a dozen mods for it.

What d'yall think about MGSMC Vol.1?

MGS1 is a PlayStation game. The editing tools for MGS2 and 3 are not very extensive, and we don't know if this release will have different formats for the data. Things aren't looking great.

MGS1 is most likely emulation and will probably get a total of 0 mods. 2 and 3 are likely going to at least get a couple though.

MGS1 was released on PC many years ago, guessing this is essentially that version, so might be moddable and not emulated, I'm not entirely sure. You can buy the old PC version on GOG for example so its been around for years and years and when it released I doubt PC's could handle playstation emulation back then (September 24th 2000).

Your guess is wrong.

Modding for the PC port isn't really a thing either, but there are some good fixes for it.

What a thrill

That is not true. MGS was released for PC quite a while ago, but it was not this new version that we are going to receive. You will probably receive improvement packages that allow you to play it in a higher aspect ratio than the basic one, as is the case with the GOG version

They are not using the gog version for this release. All the marketing material points towards it being emulation. It's all speculation but it's more than likely emulation and not a native port.

No, you won't. This collection is emulating the PSX versions of MGS1. The PC port is entirely unrelated.

If Konami continue the trend with MGS delta we just have to wait a few years for an MGS1 delta-like.

I'm not sure. Based on the fact that 2 and 3 are being limited to specific resolution and framerate output, I'm almost wondering if they're also going to be packaged into some kind of emulation solution. I hope not since, as you mention, it'll probably make modding much harder, if not impossible, but that's my worry.

They're also releasing these games on the Nintendo Switch, so no, that's not possible. The Switch isn't powerful enough to emulate the Xbox 360.

2 and 3 are based on the 360/PS3 releases. Those aren't going to be emulated, that would make zero sense to do. The only games that will be emulated are 1 (probably) and the MSX/NES games.

The "MSX" games won't be emulated either, they're the MGS3: Subsistence versions.

what if they're emulated there
it would be metal-gear-ception

an emulation within an emulation
