No, it isn't. Buy only MGS2 and 3, because MGS looks awful:

Some would argue that "this is how the game looked on PS1" but they forget a very important detail: the game was designed for low res screens and looks way better on them.

Additionally, some people still report crashes during certain cutscenes, I didn't have that issue but you may have it if you're unlucky. It seems the game doesn't like some hardware combinations and Konami still hasn't found a way to fix that.

Yes it's worth it especialy the MGS1 pack since it include the MSX games in english.

If you buy VOL1 (so the whole pack) you also get the 2 NES games along some other bonus.

If you don't mind reading the collection got some neat books, from walkthrough to all the codec messages in some cases along some lore, I really enjoyed reading them.

I don't play with mods but you have quite the choices, check the forum with the keyword "mod" and you should find a topic that list them, or someone should come here and tell you about it.

Hope that help (also there is a minecraft mod and santa mode for MGS3, it's pretty hilarious so expect some mods like that, there are an HD mod too but as I've said I don't use mods and the games work fine without them so I can't talk about things I don't know about).
