does this support 16:9 screens?

Yes, 16:9 screens are supported, in that the game will display on your screen.
By default, the game displays in its original 4:3 aspect ratio. There is also a 16:9 option, but this merely stretches the 4:3 aspect ratio in 16:9. You don't get any additional field of view.
