MGSM2Fix V2.0 is out - Widescreen and internal resolution support.
https://github.com/nuggslet/MGSM2Fix/releases/tag/v2.0

You can now play this game in native 16:9 (not stretched) and at whatever resolution you want instead of the game being stuck at 240p upscaled. UI is unfortunately stretched, but aside from this we finally have how the game should have been released.

Fantastic news! I tried this port for the first time the other day and immediately pulled the plug. Looks like I'll be jumping in again sooner than expected. Modders save the day once again!

God bless the modders

You already can. Just go into the settings and turn off smoothing.

The launch option bit isn't working for me. Just says it can't find it

The launch options part is only for Steam Deck / Linux users.

I realized after re-reading. Thanks though.

Now however I can't read the number on codec calls, so I can't contact Meryl. At least not without turning resolution back to normal for that part. And the saves show as blank for some reason.

It appears to cause glitches during certain cut scenes.

It also screws up the codec. You can't manually tune to a frequency. This was also an issue with emulated version when using certain renderers.

Once I download the files/drop them into the right folders/etc. how do you actually change the game so this mod works? (should it be automatic?) When I boot back up it still looks the same...do I need to manually adjust?

If it's the same as the fix for the other MGS games then you right click, open in notepad and then change values in the text fields.

Ahhh, OK! First time I've modded one of these MGS games so I was a bit lost! Thanks

Sooo...what settings are people using to get the game to look like the images on the link? I set the resolution to 1280x800 and the internal resolution height to 800. In game I have the screen settings on "Pixel Perfect" and it definitely looks WAY sharper, but I still have the ribbons on the left/right of the screen. If I change the settings to "fullscreen" it feels slightly stretched...

I haven't had a chance to look at the config file yet and I can't quite remember the parameters of the 2 and 3 fix file but see if there is anything attributed to Aspect Ratio. Yours will be 16:10.

any idea on how to get rid of the black bar at the bottom of my screen and getting the codec work properly?
