Worth it with mods?
Tempted to get it just because having it on Steam is far easier and I can use it on different devices. Wanted to know if the mods for all 3 games make it worth it? Or are the versions still really buggy like how apparently the game didn't save if you force closed the game even if you already saved it.

Did they address the other issues like the analog movement or blurryness? Glad the save issue has been fixed though that was a big put off. Aslong as it's in a properly playable state that's more than enough for me, I'd just want mods to enhance what's already there.

MGSM2Fix now features analog stick support. You need a controller profile made by SpoopyToots for it to work properly though, some controllers it acts weird. This mod also allows launcher skip to the last version you've launched (exiting via stance menu allows you to go back to launcher still), two CRT filters, bilinear filtering removed, and the ability to force the game in borderless fullscreen or true fullscreen.

The save issue was due to the emulator not syncing the save automatically. This was only a PC issue since attempting to "alt + F4" on any consoles results in the stance menu opening forcefully, which is what triggers the sync. This was fixed as of 1.3.0 thankfully.

The MGN community has also found a way to decensor Johnny in versions he was buck naked. So far that's not available to the public, but the trick that Konami did to make it work MIGHT open a flood gate.

The only fix Konami themselves made are the save issue and the game speed going abnormally fast. They are looking into why the emulator crashes at some cutscenes but nothing's been said outside of that yet.

IMHO, it is very worth it if you've never owned the games before. But uh... There's a gamebreaking problem in 2 where Emma meeting Otacon results in a disc read error. Nobody knows what's going on there and I don't think Konami's even aware of that one. I have a save file for that moment of the game if you wanna see if you're afflicted with that issue

No, wait for a sale and get the whole collection for 30$, then it will be worth it.

Sweet, pretty much anything I had an issue with seems to be fixed then. Is there a 60fps patch at all? I know it basically runs like a PS1 from what I saw including frame drops which I probably won't mind since it's only an issue for MGS1 anyways.

I've played MGS1 to death as a kid but haven't played for a long time so really wanted to replay all the games as I barely remember 2 and 3.

Thanks for the comprehensive summary! I think regardless of 60fps I'll be picking it up.

Some legit places sell it for about £32 I think so I'd probably just get it from there.

I'd advise caution on those sites.

Also, MGS1 can't run 60 FPS. Attempting to do so breaks the game, it's designed to play at 30 (25 on PAL) FPS, anymore or less affects the speed. If it is possible to unlock FPS on an emulator, it won't happen to this version for a gooooood while.
