Yes, to unlock the "Practice Makes Perfect" achievement in Metal Gear Solid, you'll likely need to complete all the VR missions in both the base game (around 300 missions) and any additional VR missions from the special edition, like "Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions." Completing all of these missions should fulfill the requirements for the achievement.

This achievement won't unlock if you complete things through the VR missions disc, you have to complete either the Special Missions disc, or the VR content through MGS Integral.

This achievement is for reaching 100% completion in the mission expansion pack, not for completing the "VR Training" section in game.

Note: This achievement is currently bugged in the US "VR Missions" version of the game. I have confirmed that it will unlock if you use the English (UK) "Special Missions" version. It may also unlock with the Japanese "Integral" version, but unlocking the Ninja missions on this version requires you to complete the main game while achieving the highest possible rank for your selected difficulty (for example, Fox for Hard, or Big Boss for Extreme), so unless you really can't stand 50hz, the PAL version is the way to go.


To access the PAL version of the game, select "Download" on the menu, and download the European Language pack, this should allow you to select the Special Missions disc from the Game Selection screen.

i can be wrong, try to finish on the VR mission disc, and see it if works or not

I doubt VR Missions will work unless they just patched it today or something. I did all 300 on VR MIssions and didn't get it, but then did all 300 again on Special Missions and I got it.

I got the achievement by playing the Special Missions version.

Unlocked it before playing the base game, never touched the VR missions in the base game.

Prior to the 1.3 update, this achievement would only unlock in the EU Special Missions game. This was a reported bug which has been officially resolved.

As of the version 1.3 update, this achievement should now unlock within the regular VR (US) missions game OR the Special (EU) Missions game. Both new and existing saves should unlock the achievement in either game once you hit 100%. This unlocked for me immediately when I loaded my existing 100% completion save.

You do NOT need to complete both versions of what is essential the same game running at a different frame rate. If it doesn't unlock for you once you see 100% completion, report it to Konami as a bug.
