Ocelot torture minigame is still BS
Best way to get around it, that I found at least, is to just go into the Steam controller settings and remap several buttons to the same one and mash them all together. I tried so hard to do it legit but it's way too hard lol

Okay, I see what you mean now. I'd seen that warning since I used the codec a lot then saved. But for some reason saving in that game is weird... So yeah, it didn't keep my save.

I defeated Wolf again and made sure to change area (go back) to make the game understand I mean to save. I hope the save will be there next time I launch the game.
That part isn't on you, its Konami's ♥♥♥♥ up.

Your memory card save file doesn't actually update until the emulator decides to sync it. It only exists in the emulator until then. This isn't the only emulator that handles it this way, but the problem is that people found a way to make the sync automatic.

Konami didn't. You NEED to open the Stance Menu to trigger the syncing process. It's R1 and L1 at the same time. The fact they never addressed this is mindboggling, that's a nasty issue.

But dumb question... Did you quit the game after dying? Because your session should have still had that save game.

Old games had that crazy idea that spamming a button was a cool mechanic.

What I'm planning to do, it's to use the keyboard. Maybe a macro.

In their defence if you play on console the stance menu comes up automatically if you open the home menu, so its a perfectly fine solution, but it isn't for pc

Spoon method, or use Steam Input's "hold to activate turbo" feature.

What? I just beat it easily with almost full health... Maybe it's technique? lol... All I did was spam O with the left edge of my thumb while pressing my thumb into my index finger lightly and tapping as fast as possible. Helps to look at the O and your thumb while doing it and listen for when it's over and also when it starts(Plays distinct noise about 1 sec before it starts). You can also heal a significant amount of your health if you continue to tap O after being shocked which helps quite a lot...

its perfectly possible for some, for me I tense my arm up so it starts "vibrating" i guess.

Even with spasming my finger or using the spoon trick, I couldn't get past it. Very confusing because when I played this back on the PS1, and the kinda janky OG PC port, I never remember actually dying to it or at least being stuck for about 3 hours. (Might be my third-party PS4 controller's buttons getting worn out and harder to spam since they're "Squishier") Eventually I gave up and enabled Turbo via the steam controller settings. AFAIK Ocelot can't detect auto-fire on the PS1 version. (He can on the gamecube remake, Twin Snakes, however.)

Maybe I'm just getting old. :Miller:

But seriously - this version legitimately has something wrong with this sequence. I never had any issues on any difficulty on the PS1 but here when I try to rapidly mash it just doesn't register the inputs. And I know I'm doing it correctly, so what gives?

P.S. I'm playing on the DS5 if that is of any importance

I remember it being super hard when I played it on the emulator 8 years ago, but now it went surprisingly easy both times

Try turning the B button (circle) to turbo through controller layout. There should be a controller button, press that, then edit layout. Click on the cog for B. It should be the very top.

I've used value 50 for the torture scene and the autofire detection did not kick in.

Play Integral for an easier torture sequence.

"Dont even think of using auto-fire or ill know!"

PS1 controller buttons were easier to mash. Same with 2, 3 and 4. DS5 is garbage.

I gotta say, it's useless ... the real story she's alive in MGS4, so completing the torture or not, doesn't erase the real story. I always skipped it.

Thank you very much for the advice, I did just that before reading this. Felt slightly guilty for using autofire, but if the game refuses to register my hard work, then this is legit.
