Is anyone else just happy to have MGS on steam?
I'm just happy they finally brought these games to steam. Thell patch them and fix them or the community will fix them but MGS is one of, if not the greatest game series ever made and I finally can play it with ease on my steam deck. I've emulated all of them including 4. The bonus features i love, I'm in the middle of reading mgs script book. Can't wait to read the others. Also the real mg 1 and 2 finally have a PC release. Iv been wanting to play these games forever but emulating msx is annoying and mgs 3 is the only other option. Everyone chill out, it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the amount of bugs and missing options but we'll get them. I can't even play 2 or 3 on my deck and I don't even care cause I know I will be soon. MG 1, 2, and mgs along with all the bonus content work. I got more than enough here until they hopefully patch it this week. I agree on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but I'm just happy to have these games in my steam library.

Again splitting hairs, none of the textures are redone, none of the models are redone. Its rendering all the same PS1 stuff at a higher pixel density, which in the end, its still a blocky ass PS1 game either way with old textures, so why is it such a big issue? Seems like you more so just like bragging about the resolution its in then just playing the games how they once where, which a lot of people are happy doing

its not how they once were. if you get a CRT monitor and connect the original ps1 game you get a clean and sharp image.
but this collection will always be blurry since its the original game 240p upscaled to 720p then upscaled to 1080p then upscaled to your monitor res

And either way it looks old, so why does it matter how sharp it is when it still is just an old game and is perfectly playable? Idk how many times I can say splitting hairs here, but lets go for a record?

Here's what I'm saying nice and simple. You sir, care way more about the resolution in a really old game, then a lot of people. it is NOT something for major concern. I'm sorry you don't like the resolutions.

I prefer easy to use games with achievements, over messing with emulators or using GOG. So this is perfectly acceptable here on steam. If you'd like remasters, instead of bashing this collection, try waiting for Delta and if its good, supporting that so they do 1 and 2 in true fashion as well.

I think the problem comes from people wanting to play the game exactly as they remember from childhood, but, that's nearly impossible as everyone saw the game differently especially comparing to PAL/NTSC TV's. Unless you're actually playing on a CRT that can't be replicated perfectly, sure you can use shaders through ReShade etc to get close to that, but it's still not the same. At that point just invest in a retro setup with a PS1/MGS1/CRT TV.

I do think Konami SHOULD at the bare minimum offer filters you can choose from (heck even nintendo does this with Switch's Expansion Pass). But here we are with the most basic ass ports that would only fly 10+ years ago.

I dunno, if they're gonna release a port of this "quality" I'd rather just use an emulator and play the actual old game upscaled.

That takes time effort, education, knowing where to get the stuff though. who has all that information?

For people who use Emudeck on Steamdeck, 5 minutes.

Clearly more effort than Konami put into this collection
