You can still beat him without that trick. It's a 25 yr old game. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

There's a couple different ways to do it, tbh when I played this on the week of release on my PS1 I didn't know and beat him after 2 days without changing the controller over haha

If you are using a WIRED CONTROLLER take it out of the USB port and put it back in (either port, it doesn't matter) and a menu should come up. Go to CONTROLLER SETTINGS and then go down to CONTROLLER CONNECTION and choose Connect as P2, press CONFIRM and leave the menu and continue playing. After defeating Psycho Mantis, repeat these steps to change back to the first Player Controller.

Dang I read this after I just beat him. I don't have another port available and I doubted I had another way around it.

What I did was codec campbell until he gave me the hint to disconnect my controller. Then you die on purpose. Then you go back in, call campbell back, then he tells you you can shoot the statues to dismantle his powers. Then you can defeat him that way without switching your port.

Step 1: Press down the "E" and "M" keys simultaneously.

Step 2: Go to "Controller Settings"

Step 3: Switch from Player 1 to Player 2

Step 4: Beat his ass
