Why Duckstation is NOT better

Not only do we get the Master Book and Screenplay but you would need 6 different isos.

Good luck still finding those or your save 20 years from now, when Steam users will still be able to play with a few clicks.

Update:
I'm updating this because many of you are confused by "6 ISOs" so I'll spell it out:

MGS1 NA is 2 Discs
MGS VR Missions is 1 Disc
MGS VR Special MIssions is 1 Disc
MGS1 Integral is 2 Discs

Now let's do the math together boys and girls, what 2 + 1 + 1 + 2?
Did you get 6? VERY GOOD!

Update 2:
fixed the title because it was poorly worded originally

You're insane if you think the game looks better on duckstation.

That said, I'll probably buy these once someone can confirm I can play them with Japanese v/o. Can't do that through emulation quite yet.

Who the ♥♥♥♥ would want to play these games with Japanese voice overs?

No truth to it, huh? Okay. How about that Duckstation runs better than a real PS1? Save states? Internal resolution upscaling? Removal of dithering? Achievements? These things are all true. The preference doesn't matter one iota. The performance and features however do.

Like I said, nostalgia blinds people.
dude is so mad he responded to the same post twice LOL. Again its all preference. If you want to watch CG jabba the hut over the original release of star wars thats your problem dude. Achievements? who cares? also who wants to see low poly models in MUH 4K UPSCALED HURR resolutions?. Save states are cheating and I dont care. "nostalgia blinds people" he says while emulating a childrens video game from 1998 LMAO

There's a reason why pretty much everyone that played MGS on Duckstation enabled graphical improvements: because the game looks better with them.

Emulation is better not only from a fan's perspective, it's currently our only means of accurately preserving a bunch of art that is otherwise at the whims of unconcerned corporate vultures.

It's not a terrible emulator. It's not Duckstation or anything but it's not terrible. Better then ePSXE by a mile. Still, could use some improvements and hopefully a patch is coming. This collection is still a tad disappointing however.

It does though. Heck, even PS3's emulation of MGS1 is better with no bilinear filtering crap.

Japanese people? People who prefer the Japanese dub?
Damn, I thought OP is the only one here with the dumbest takes.

The Japanese dub of MGS in particular has a bunch of awesome seiyuu in it.

Though the real answer is 'because I can'.

The irony is that I've almost certainly used more emulators than you in my life.
I'm older than Nesticle and remember when CPS3 was finally cracked.
In arcade emulators alone I've used 7 different ones. (some of the MAME forks from back in the day had some sick controller based UIs) I've run emulators on literally every playstation console and handheld. I watched and waited for decades for Sega Saturn emulation to become mostly bug free. (it only just got there in the last few years)
Hell I remember when n64 emulation first got remappable controls back in the HLE days.

But yea, you're right, I don't know ♥♥♥♥ about emulation. I haven't been using and setting them up for 23 years or anything. :zaglol:

And still you are think this lazy and ugly port is a good deal!

I don´t know what you are smoking.

Emulation is still the best way to experience those masterpieces of games!

This so called master collection does not hold the quality standard the game series deserves.

Just look how easy the games can be improved. But of course Konami is too lazy to put some effort and love into the series.

Well there's your first problem. You don't want the original experience; you want a modified one.

You know they wrote an entire emulator right?
They also had a whole list of things they wanna fix in patches before anyone on Steam could even start a full list.

I'm not a Konami fan by any stretch these days, and would happily call them lazy if it was true, but in this case, there was obvious work put in here.

You don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ you're talking about, so stay in your lane with your 50hz slop, and let people who actually understand what ISO files are play the game in a much better way.
LMFAO
I like how you chose to be pedantic about ISO vs bin/cue only to look like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron saying I don't know what I'm talking about, because I can play at 60Hz with Integral.

And to further expound on YOU not knowing what you're talking about, this collection comes with MGS1, MGS1 Integral, VR Missions, and Special Missions. That's literally 6 different discs, but tell me more about how I don't know what I'm talking about.

Terrible take. My 23 year old MGS Integral CDs are holding up just fine today and I know where to find them. Keeping offline data for 20 years isn't as difficult as you've make it sound.
You're a fool if you think any CD will last 40 years.
https://cdm.link/2017/02/a-generation-of-cds-is-already-rotting-and-dying/
And burned discs rot even faster; I've seen many bubble and die.

I can guarantee you that all 6 discs of those are easy to find and get up and running on DuckStation + better keyboard/mouse controls and a far higher resolution with scanlines and most importantly, a stable 30 FPS
