Even if you didn't in the original you had 2 ways of doing it, you can check on youtube how to do it.

They've added the ability to configure your controller on the fly, which is supposedly including the ability to emulate switching controllers or ports.

They added it in a pause menu (which also pauses cutscenes.)

L1 + R1 -> change controller port.

In original PC port if you played with controller you'd have to switch to keyboard to beat Psycho Mantis. The new release appears to be emulated and controller switching appears to be entirely virtual.

You could beat him without doing that trick even in the original

My general tip for newcomers playing the game is to call everyone you can on your CODEC if you ever encounter a situation that stumps you. The games are usually pretty good at giving you some hints if you get stuck

I know of 3 ways to beat him. One of them is just beat him but that takes a lot of swat , swearing and time. The other one is the controller trick. The last one is by breaking 2 objects in the room - his source of power.

did you know. when Campbel asks snake to put in the Controller into port 2 because as long as it's in port 1 Mantis will keep reading your inputs? LIES I SAY! Campbel saw Snake as a little brother and NO WAY is the big Bro gonna let his little bro play on the nr1 controller >:D

For some reason you can add saves of other Konami games for the special dialogue for Psycho Mantis. thats actually quite cool i will not lie

I have tried 4 different methods and none of which work.
-using a second controller (still reads thoughts)
-using the keyboard (read thoughts anyways)
-destroying the masked statues (they dont break)
-just using the first controller

I guess my save game will just chill where its at forever. glad i didnt buy this.

Played with Steam Deck and it works 100%, check my answers:

1 - Don't needed, just press L1+R1 > Controller > Select Port 2
2 - Not tested
3 - To destroy the statues, first Psycho need to kill you
4 - Same as step 1

Edit: Yeah I can confirm, E+M, then go into Controller settings.

The statues only break after you die 2 times
