What is stopping you for using a patch that make the game look "better" if you really hate having the OG experience ?

I won't use such patch because I want to play the game just how it was, I don't care if a game is in 4K, 8K or is the 3D0 of our time, I'll enjoy it while some will be mad about it for some reasons.

To be honest, the game just doesn't look right if it isn't rendered at its original resolution. MGS1 is a lot blockier than any of its successors, so increasing the resolution feels similar to applying a smooth filter to a SNES game. Some people prefer it that way, but I think it looks strange.

Apart from higher rendering resolutions—which would be possible with this emulated version but the devs wisely chose not to—there isn't anything the PC port does better than the PS1 version. Even with the fan-made patches, the PC port has much worse audio and is missing features like the vibration and Psycho Mantis reading save data.

It'd be a huge waste of effort to try to fix it instead of just using the PS1 version. All that would need to be done with the PS1 original, aside from getting the emulation to work properly, is editing the button icons and some of the text. Integral is also available in this version, though I'm not sure if it's fully translated.

Dude. lets be real.

you all argue about graphic of "PLAYSTATION 1" game. that even with emulator magic, its still character model made of blocky. they cant even open mouth while speaking in cutscene.

sure is konami doing a f*cking lazy job. sure it can be done better. but atleast its not f*ckup.

in these day and age in gaming industry. where hopes and dream can get crush into trash easily(look at CP2077 for example). we should appreciate little good things in life.

and im sure modder gonna make fix like when they do in previous PC version. why worry that much. what you should be worry is vol.2, about how they gonna do with MGS4 port.

Seems like they're using that texture filtering from the Autobleem for PS1 mini, it works for some games. Retroarch and Duckstation has it too. basically its saying its running on an emulator.

They'll probably be available individually after launch. I believe it's only the bundle for now due to the pre-order bonus.

dithering is not a filter, it is using a pattern to simulate more shades of colors
