for me resolution isn't a problem, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ upscaling. Integer scaling would be much better.... I hope it can be modded

ugly?! brother this is how the game always looked when it came out. XD

Yeah, I wish Konami used the PC version of MGS1 as a starting point, fix the few issues it has and include it in the collection instead of just emulating the PS1 version which looks rough in 2023. But I guess they didn't want to put any effort into it. Even the game emulated on PC looks better.

Also, the GOG release with the bmn (Metal Gear Solid Integral Launcher) fan patch looks like an unofficial remaster. It runs at high resolutions, in native widescreen with full controller support and the incorrect and missing music tracks are fixed. Some issues like effects missing in certain cutscenes remain but man does it look much better. Really clean and sharp.

I think emulating ps1 version is better choice (full features and faithful rendering) but ofc it could be better handled

Well it's because they are used to pirat- "emulating" old games so stuff like duckstation and others may improve on the graphism thus they forgot how the legal copies looked like.

Tomorrow I will test it. I also have the GOG version, and the GOG version looks really nice, you can basically observe how the maggots move around. MGS was in another era for its time.

Absolutely. Sadly, the Windows version of Metal Gear Solid 2 was removed from digital sale.
I bought it also when it was released. I understand, correct me if I'm wrong, it has to do with some copyright issues.

If it looks like a PS1 game, well, ♥♥♥♥, but I'm used to. Honestly I just want a good excuse to play from 1 to 3 (and try again not to skip 2, this time xD Damn raiden.)

Yea just look at the comparisons in this video between the PS5 version of master collection and the og game running on a PS1 (8:48)

First of all, have lots of fun!

Possibly, content has been removed or replaced in case of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 (licensing issues with videos). So, this would not be the "ultimate" version regarding content and graphic fidelity, i.e. rendering at low resolution and upscaling.

Having never played only part 3, part 3 remains as the main reason for playing this collection. However, a remake for part 3 is already announced. And playing both of them, i.e. original and remake, is simply too much for me due to its focus on story.

So, this collection doesn't really convince me, anymore, sadly.

From a collector's point of view, the likely superior Windows versions of Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 had to be included in case of the Steam release, moreover. Obviously, they cannot be released on consoles without porting.

MGS1 & 2 PC versions are viewed as horrible port.

Doesn't look any different to the original PS copy. Now, if you were running it on emulators etc. Of course it'd look better. But in its natural state, I'd expect it to look like this. So much entitlement in this forum.

Yeah they have pirated the game so much that they've forgot how the game actually looks like lmao.

No idea why they even care since they don't even own the games.

You don't need emulation for better graphics, though. The PC/GOG version looks much better once patched:

How it looks in this collection isn't how it looked in 1997 on a PS1 and a TV of that time.

Just pure raw output of a PS1 on a modern HD display, especially if it's upscaled to 1080p is grotesque. They couldn't even put a simple CRT filter on it. It's just...there. And it makes me queasy

If you use a patch to make the original game look better then you could do the same for this collection.

Checkmate.

Still doesn't excuse this lazy repackaged edition. Windows version of 1 should have been included.
