METAL GEAR SOLID - Master Collection Version

METAL GEAR SOLID - Master Collection Version

Statistiche:
Is this emulations or actually ports
SO... Are those ports or emulations.
As we have few informations as what is changed or improved in those supported ports. Can anyone confirm if any of those were confirmed.

- 120 FPS support
- Resolution up to 4K (With reworked upscaling)
- MG1 and 2 being seperated from MGS3
- Bug fixes with MGS1 , MGS2 and MGS3
- Faster aiming speed (First person cam mostly)
- Japanese voice lines + japanese subs
- 30 FPS for Metal Gear (MSX & NES) - Metal Gear 2 (Snake's revenge and MSX)
- Faster loading + freeze lag fix

However we know that Keyboard + mouse support is not supported. Which is a shame because Metal Gear , Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 originally supported them.

Sure they were a mess to deal with but, with some tinkering and a modding you could play with both KB+M.

Thoughts ?

It's running on something called Moonlight, so it's being streamed onto the Switch from a PC, but considering MGSV was still a 7th gen release, I could see it being optimized for a Switch release. Only downside I could see is maybe the texture quality being downgraded to match MGS4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb_dXaL-4xY
So, nobody got MGSV running on a Switch, since it was running on a PC in that video, and only streamed to a Switch. Why did you even bring that up? Sure, they could potentially port it, but... What does that have to do with anything?

"MGS2 and 3 will be native ports"
The collection is also being released on the Nintendo Switch. The Switch isn't powerful enough to emulate these games. The store page says that these releases are based on the HD Collection. The source code for the HD Collection was already written for x86 PCs.

"My bad. Here's the video either way, though I was in a rush when I saw it last."
I was mistaken and I acknowledged it. The point I was trying to make is that if the switch could stream/run MGSV and play Doom: Eternal, it would have no problem running MGS2 and MGS3 considering they're less graphically intensive.

Emulating PS3 or Xbox 360 games is more demanding than Doom Eternal. Anything can stream games with a decent Internet connection.

I'm not talking about emulation. I'm talking about a native port.

Edit: Never mind. I misread it. I'm an idiot.

That's what I wrote in my original post. MGS2 and 3 in this collection must be ports, because the Switch can't emulate them.

Yeah, my bad. Shouldn't be on Steam discussions when I'm tired. Though that does make me wonder about VR Missions. You think it'll be coded to launch from MGS1, or just a separate menu option? And the more I think about it, yeah it makes sense that MGS1's emulation. The devkit for PS1 requires a much older operating system or a virtual machine to set up.

VR Missions is technically a separate game, and since I think everything points to MGS1 being emulated again in this release (much like in the Legacy Collection), I don't think they modified these games in any way. So my bet is either on it being one of the two options in a new launcher program, or simply a dialogue box in the Steam library.

I doubt that would be any kind of hurdle for them if they really wanted to give it the HD Edition treatment, I just think they decided it wasn't necessary to spend money on decompiling and porting it when most people would buy it anyway in an emulated form.

Makes sense. I love what can be done with proper emulation enhancements, but I also realize Konami's got a lot of projects in the works right now, so making MGS1 look perfect most likely isn't a priority. Hopefully they'll consider making it look better, but only trime will tell. PGXP or whatever it was called can do wonders.

I said that I don't expect them to modify the games in any way, but I really hope to be proven wrong, and that they made a romhack of Integral with fully localised text.

Only time will tell. On the Steam page it does mention six text options and both English and Japanese audio, but I'm unsure if that just means we have separate NTSC-U/PAL/NTSC-J releases or one single version being released. However the size on what's initially loaded onto the switch cart makes me curious. Could be that MGS1 is the only game on the cart, but increased in size due to VR Missions and localizations being included. Whether that means it's one game or not is unknown to me, however.

Oh right, the size of the Switch cartridge is about the same size as all the different regional versions of MGS1 combined, I forgot...

Guess we'll find out more during TGS. At least it'd be a good idea for them to show off more during that time.
