Game Crash!?
So, being the massive nerd I am, I love Transformers and games. So I eagerly awaited to play this game. But, for some reason, each time I start it up and start playing, anytime as soon as 30 seconds into the game (it averages about 2 minutes in) it says "Missing Executable". I have tried validating files, uninstalling and re-installing and changing options, but to no avail. I can't get pass the Optimus Prime chapter because of it. Help is much appreciated! Thank you! I should point out I am playing it on a rubbish PC, but it can run at 30 frames easily on low (not lowest) settings.

Hmm. Not sure I can help you much. I do remember when I first got the game. It used to crash so much it wasn't funny. Finally after a few days, the crashes just "stopped". Why? Most likely because my PC got used to it. (It most likely had to get used to it because I don't have a game on my PC as high spec as FoC). Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. :)

One thing about PC games...is they are fond of throwing errors lol. Anyway, is it the game or windows that is throwing the error? To me sounds like some redistruatble did not install when you first installed tfoc through steam. Unfortunately 'Missing Executable' is pretty generic though. It's kind of like when the check engine light goes off in your car. Hard to say.

@BULLET I think it is the games fault. Best thing I can come up with is it's either deleting or never installed DirectX, as it always wants me to do a first time set-up. Problem is, each time I re-do the first time set-up, it still crashes once I am pass the menus.

@Ålpha Wright™ No problem :P I may just try to lug through it until it just stops if I can't find a solution.

Hmm...DirectX should come with all Windows PCs/Laptops etc. For what its worth I am on DirectX 11 and the game runs fine. To check your version go to start...type dxdiag...click no...and the dxdiag window should pop up. I'm assuming you can upgrade DirectX but idk...never had to go there myself.

Also...

That article should tell you what Direct X version goes with what Operating System. It also states that some games might need an earlier version of Direct X in which case you can install the Direct X runtime. The runtime is not a replacment for the version you currently have. However it is an earlier lightweight version of Direct X that should allow the game to run (if that is the problem).

Anyway make a list of all the things you think it might be and look into them. You sound like a good detective. Eventually you will find the problem.

"Lugging it out" might not be a smart move. As much as many things over time hurt your physical body, many crashes isn't so healthy for your PC either. Lucky, my crashes only happened about every 10 - 60 minutes. Also, I didn't have many. Probable about 10 or so. I don't remember, it's been over a year since I've had the game, so. Again, sorry I couldn't be more helpful. :)
