Had she not come . . . it's hard to say, since Ruka and Misaki also should have died by the same logic.
Is it that they are spiritually gifted? The game mentioned that those with powers tend to develop Moonlight Syndrome easier and stronger. But why are those three the only survivors?
She probably would have survived if they just stuck together.
I'm not too sure about that. In Fatal Frame games usually characters always get separated like if they were placed in different dimensions one way or another. The exception maybe could be Mio and Mayu, but even them get put appart in some parts.
That happened in Corpse Party as well, it might be more of a Japanese thing than a Fatal Frame thing. Corpse Party also had the "you experience the pain that killed you for eternity" concept too, so I attribute that to Japanese folktales as well.
But Misaki DID leave her behind, where there might have been a chance to stay together.
