The worst enemy in this game is not the ghosts
It's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ control. I've played FF 1,2,3 and and this game has the worst, jankiest control by far.

The jankiest controls were when I played original game on Dolphin emulator. And the toughest enemy was piano... Yes, piano. But I still got used to it and finished original. Compared to emulator this remaster is like... SUPER CONVENIENT

Didn't try the original emulator but from what you've just said that it's fortunate that I didn't.

For me its fortunate that I played both versions, I'm really glad I did, It was a time and money well spent. I really like the story and dark settings in that game. About gameplay convenience... Doesnt matter for me, I consider it the last factor to judge videogame. I'd even say, original on emulator being hard brought me satisfaction when I beat it, its like an achievement, more interesting that way
What do you mean with jankiest controls?
To me it just felt slow and inconvenient, but that´s more of a plus than a minus for a horror game like this.

The controls here are fine. Try FF2 and FF4 on Wii.

I haven't played this game since the second to last patch so I have no idea if this was addressed, but the issue I've experienced with the gameplay was about item pickups: is many cases you really have to play around with the camera and the character's position in order to make the pick up prompt appear.

ahhh, that's certainly true. Even getting the items to show themselves is impossible sometimes

My main issues with the controls are turn speed. The classics, you'd turn much faster using either tank controls, or instant turns with the 2d controls. You really need to use the quickturn feature (pushing either of the control sticks like buttons) and make use of aiming with the camera / flashlight to check the environment. Also make sure to use the run button (LT by default) to recenter the camera when turning.

Stick with it, you'll get used to it.

Yeah, don't even bother looking for items with the flashlight, it just doesn't work well. Just take out your camera and look around with it in first person. You'll find items much faster and it's way more reliable.

I know about the flashlight and the camera trick.
I was talking about items that are already visible but that the game won't let you pick up unless you place the character in some weird position.

Like the item next to a door in the hospital which the character keeps opening instead of picking said item up.

Damn, if only I knew about this when I first played this game on Dolphin, would've saved me so much times from keep turning around shining the damn light all over... Thanks.

I think it's not just the controls itself but also the stage design. It's so cramp for the most part and it's like I keep running into walls and whats not every other step

That's intentional because fights can take place basically everywhere. Combat would be too easy if you we were free to just roam about in the open with nothing standing in our way.
