If a game has no big problems, you can expect meme reviews or short reviews. The people who write more complete reviews take their time to write it, since usually they play over 20 hrs before write a word.
In short, reviews dont lie, the game is good, but if you have purchased a Koei Tecmo PC port before, you can expect some minor bugs and barebone video settings.
I mean, I'm not really blaming them... I'm more upset that people (companies) seem to think disingenuous reviews are perfectly fine as long as they're positive. You wont see Steam giving warnings about reviews for this game for instance.
I also keep my profile private. I don't like getting into discussions / arguments and then having some weirdo troll my profile to whine about my opinion because I played x game or put y hours into this or that. Also keeps me honest. If others can't look at my profile and judge me based on that I don't go into others to attack them over what they do / don't play.
Also, after having played for almost 4 hours today I can say that I haven't found a single bug or glitch, the controls are fine ( for the most part) and the performance is good. That's already impressive considering how KOEI TECMO has been with ports and releases lately..
One thing to remember is that this is not a new game, it was released over a decade ago for the Wii. It's also not the first PC version of it either apparently, as there were various fan conversions via emulators and such. There are too few of these sorts of reviews to be a proper "review bombing" in either a positive or negative direction, so what I'm guessing is your basically seeing a bunch of fans who played buying the official version, and praising it to help boost initial sales. I doubt there is any real malevolence or misdirection intended.
This will be my first time playing this one, though I was a big fan of "Fatal Frame" and "Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly" on the PS-2. Namely because I was never a big fan of the Wii in general, and don't do much with emulators and illegal translations for various reasons.
I would presume the low level private accounts might be to avoid questions about how they could have played it before now as it legally didn't exist on PC before this. There are also other "sensible" reasons like people concealing porn games on these accounts. I'm not at all humiliated by admitting that I mess around with stuff like that once in a while, but some people are, and a lot of people use alt accounts to hide their porn stuff.
