I would like to thank everyone who's supporting this game. Hopefully they'll remaster the older titles. Can't wait to play them again.
I wonder why these messages continue to appear pretty much with every game release.
Understand something, prices are set by things like production and licensing costs, not based on people's ability to pay. Just because your poor or from a poor country does not mean everything should be cheaper so you can have it, it's not economically viable. Countries like Venezuala famously crashed their economy by trying to set prices based on ability to pay in hopes it would amount to everyone having everything, and while they somewhat recovered, let's just say the reality was a horrific result of nobody being able to have anything at all. Some people from there were telling me stories about how it got so bad that at one point they had soldiers running around rounding up women who they assumed could bake and trying to force them to produce bread and stuff at gun point, only to face the reality that everything has to come from somewhere and if there is no grain you cannot bake bread. If you give it all away and can't even meet the production costs you run out of everything.
Now granted, this is digital luxury item, it is a little different in some respects. Understand though that it still cost money to produce and sometimes using old tech like this did is more expensive than creating things from scratch. This is pretty much a second tier game from a failed platform, with some interesting licensing realities which is why even getting FF games has always been a bit spotty. Not to mention increasing demands for localization of everything which costs money, note the guy demanding Italian Subtitles in another channel for example. Given that we're kind of lucky this is even a thing at the moment, it doesn't strike me as being outrageous that it costs a fair bit.... and honestly since we hear this about almost every game I'd think people would be used to the reality of things by now.
Also understand another point, that $74 your paying is not that much more than the US price for the full "deluxe" version. One thing you need to consider when looking at your regional pricing is how much tax is included in your price. Many countries with high prices on video games basically used what are ridiculous sumptuary laws specifically because they are foreign luxury products. It might not be the fault of the video game country either, your own government might be taxing you to death for a number of reasons.
On top of all this realize that there is a global digital marketplace nowadays, if they were to ever sell a game a lot cheaper in other countries, key sellers could just buy the games up there, and then re-sell them in other more expensive markets. We already see this happening to an extent, and this would make the problem worse. If they charge poor countries radically less, key sales would result in everyone playing drastically lower prices than intended. It wouldn't be a favor to those countries, it would result in the entire market for the game crashing. The only way to prevent that would be to go back to old school region locking, but for reasons that should be obvious that results in even worse problems than what it would be setting out to solve.
There is a sale going on for the game, both versions, see if that can't make the pricing more reasonable for you, good luck. https://www.indiegala.com/search/Fatal%20Frame%20Mask/store-games
Yet I have to read people from considered "rich countries" saying it's poor country economy fault while people from their own country change the steam region to buy cheap and break the system.
Lots of Karens out there.
