Thank you for the recommendation.
Why the Wii version tho? And is it playable without the motion controls?
I'd suggest to play the PS2 versions on PCSX2, you can start with FF1 which is a great game too.
Yeah, also probably sucks to play unless you have the motion controller.
Thank you, guys.
So starting with 4 is fine. If you dont like slow paced exploring, then the whole series just wont be for you though. This isnt Resident Evil action horror, its very slow-paced exploration horror. So the series probably just isnt for you if you dont like slowing down to appreciate tone and mood.
5 makes more sense with motion controls, which makes the combat there much better. 4 doesnt really need it though since the original controls were a weird half between motion and normal.
I love slow exploration games, but Maiden felt too repetitive because of too much of the same door and pickup animations. I also didn't like when they're reusing the same locations for 2–3 times... It's kinda killed the atmosphere for me.
That was wicked
About part 4:
It Takes Place First Chronologically
Although it is the fourth game in the Fatal Frame series, this title is a prequel to the original game, taking place in 1980. That means that the events on Rougetsu Island in Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse take place six years before the events at Himuro Mansion in Fatal Frame.
Further, the backstory of Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse involving Ruka's kidnapping takes place in 1970. This means that the events of this game stretch backward 16 years before the rest of the series, although perhaps a future entry (or themed slot machine) will take the franchise further back in time.

The second is a BIG improvement, gorgeous game on PS2 and has some great scares. Haven't jumped from a game in a long time.
I'm holding off on this one as there are a number of issues that, imho, don't make it worth the $50 price tag. Hopefully they get resolved soon. I don't know if the series is going to have reference to other games. In playing 2 it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the original from a story standpoint. Gameplay wise and mechanics its absolutely 100% a sequel though.
