Unable to unlock the ninja class (spoiler)
I was able to beat the final boss upon encountering him, I've seen that if you lose the first fight, you'll start another quest to get on a train and progress further, I'm guessing the Ninja class unlock is later on down that line, but since I skipped all that, I don't think i'll be able to unlock him?

Ah I see, the description says advance in the main story line, so I assumed it'd be unlocked somewhere in that line, so its a side quest then?
The main story kind of splits into multiple "side quests" at the point where the Ninja unlocks so wording it is a bit difficult.

I found ninja after beating final boss on first encounter. I truly just believe some of the side quests are bugged and don't show up for people. While I got the quest for ninja, I can't unlock Artificer nor technomancer. Neither of their sidequestlines appear for me.

Some of the side quests become unavailable at certain points of the main story. If you missed them there is no way to earn some of the rewards (like classes tied to those stories).

As for Ninja, I think it it's still available as a reward for one of the side quests even when reaching or defeating Black Mage as that quest (in my knowledge) doesn't lock any of the side stuff.

Thanks!

That's bad design to restrict entire classes to a side quest you may have not known about.

Isn't that how tabletop rpgs work though? (things being possible to miss that you aren't aware of)

Anyway, the unlocks are cross-save so you can start a new run and they will carry over.

I would agree with you if the side quests were more obvious to see for users. With the current layout, you would have to manually go to every single zone after every main mission in order to not miss a side quest if they do get locked by progress. There's no way to know otherwise if a side quest is now available. Now if there were say some sort of map marker over locations that had notable side quests, I would be more understanding.

Yeah I know.. This was one of the things that I personally would have liked to see added to the game (side quest markers) but as it stands, there is limited time and it just didn't make it on the priority list.
