For the ultra basic though, warrior into champion is pretty good. fat armour, fat block, all the speed you could ever want, and the poise stops going away. Mash points into stand ground in martial, pretty simplistic build, hard to mess up. You just zip around at high speeds while being hard to kill after standing still for a bit.
Anyway, Shantih (Lightning/Martial) tops that list, with Champion (pure Martial) not too far behind. The highest non-Martial class is Briar Mage, hard to argue with in terms of straightforward power.
