I slept on Ikshana because their ability seems weak, but turns out they are extremely good. They get two prayer charges on step meaning you can churn out a nigh infinite amount of prayers per floor. And while +20 summons isn't anything fancy, it does put summon builds off to a great start while also letting you devote more points to speed.
Mardok has probably the best Prayer 1 in the game. Healing that recharges on attack is extremely strong, especially when combined with ways to attack while praying.
Fawdaa is my overall favorite just because I love teleport builds so much. With Fawdaa, Qamar and some smart building, you can easily teleport 5-10 times each Stand Still while melting the whole map.
The strongest god atm is definitely Apophis. +1 str per floor is insane, and while you will probably die if you get attacked too much, Apophis is extremely generous with divine intervention so this isn't a deal-breaker at all. Oh, and once you hit prayer 3 you can just spam that to obliterate everything before it even gets into range.
Oh yeah! I completely forgot about Apophis. That guy is completely insane, especially for self-damage builds.
Off-topic, but what are the optimal stats/perks for a self-damage build? I tried multiple times to make one and it just fell apart mid-game.
So, the thing with self-damage is, you /need/ to have a source of healing. There's flat out no way to mitigate self-damage other than fixing yourself up afterwards. In order for the healing to keep up, it's usually good to get a decent chunk of willpower as well. The main options I usually go with for healing are batform, roil, or poison skin. Even if you have a healing prayer of some sort, having access to passive healing is really helpful.
I had this Goblin Mubarizum self-damage dex bleed/poison build that used roil, fire healing and poison skin (level 5)--even then, I just couldn't survive past mid-game (fourth cycle). I'd just randomly get two-shotted out of nowhere. I don't think I invested enough in Willpower though, I think that's the problem. WIL was around 15 or so. I'll try again with a focus on WIL and switch to Apophis. Thanks dude.
I'm firmly in team Dumuzi:
- A great all-rounder with 3 strong healing prayer charges per floor and 2x6 damaging prayers to help with monsters resistant to your main damage.
- 3 free summons per floor are a godsend when you need some meat shields.
- Armor transformation makes all prayers stronger and increases survivability
- The ice character who negates the inflexibility damage penalty makes Dumuzi really shine
Also, honorable mention to formus. All you need is any source of "do game effect on stand still" and you're pretty much set. Infinite ants that aren't affected by the minion cap and easily recharged prayers is a great combo for a lot of builds.
The man himself has spoken.
I'm curious, is there a "canon" hero (race/class/god) that you have in mind? The warrior in the menu art looks almost like a light-skinned Mubarizum wielding an axe and a knife with a fire familiar (I think) beside him; I've always wondered if he was the true slayer of the King.
Still haven't played with them all yet but there are some that seem more helpful than others.
