Traditional melee in later cycles(20+).
Did anyone manage to get a pure melee without summons/familiars to finish 20+ cycles?

I can do it with summoners, stand still, ranged and two handed/unarmed ranged punchers, but when i try traditional dumb fighter i keep running into mega buffed up monster that always outpace one of my defenses to the point os 1hit k.o.

The only 'almost' melee build that works for me is a teleporting warrior/chamion, with stand ground + spatha and scutum i can easily rack up thousands of stacks of poise and steam roll things but i don't think that counts.

I did it with one skill and the starting weapon as my only equipment. Hit scales really well so you can keep one-shotting most enemies with enough of it. You just need enough Speed to outrace the shooting gallery enemies and a source of healing (like the Mardok prayer).

That... holy cow, is that supposed to scale like that?
That's what i get for playing after a few months and not reading about new gods, thanks.

This was mostly a challenge to see if I could get the only Martial achievement on the (at the time) highest cycle. It took a few tries and could definitely be optimized more. The big thing is Bhieth Nocht scales based on a percentage of your hit meaning it eventually scales exponentially reaching hundreds of thousands. I'm trying to theory build getting a million+ hit but haven't cracked it yet.

The 1m damage ispretty chill, you need:

Apophis to beef up strength
levels to pump up wisdom
something to double/triple dip damage (like pants dealing extra % of x damage when you do y damage

I never did it on first hit, damage transformers should do.

Oh! I hit 1m+ damage all the time, I mean I want 1m of the Hit stat.

Here is another pure martial build for a c28 win. This one is using a one range weapon rather than adjacent attacks, but still is just a standard "attack the enemy" build with no points in WIllpower. The big damage dealer here is Aim which I theorize is MUCH stronger than the players currently think (percent scaling is scary). Abdi gives bonus hits per attack making it easier to get those delicious Mark stacks which power the Pierce Damage effect of Aim.

Also, Ape is one of the strongest Cultures. (Only eclipsed by Brud).

Aim's been incredibly strong, like... ever? It's been one of the most intense damage ramping abilities in the game for a while now. If folks are sleeping on it, that's a bit of a surprise, heh.

E: Any case, I still haven't played past 24 quite yet, but 24th cycle... traditional melee can win, it's just risky. Melee can ramp damage hard enough to oneshot basically anything they touch, but even worse than usual they're vulnerable to a bad spawn just eating you. If you get somewhat lucky on map generation, though, you're good.

stack the guard skill plus the elemental on-hit skill of your choice. Just those two skills. (I'm partial to the astral one) Pick up a bit of healing somewhere so you don't have to keep dumping points into vigor for necessity. The way this works is that when you block a hit you do a number of 50 damage hits equal to block skill level to adjacent enemies. Each hit applies your elemental hit effect. And that's it. Pretty simple. I recommend dual-wielding shields for the classic board and board build.

I may be mistaken, I just said that because I don't remember seeing any other builds using it though I probably just missed them.

Several of the 24th cycle wins I've thrown into the yavt that dipped into the martial path used it, iirc :V

Fairly sure I've seen other folks post wins using it, too, though I'm less certain on that. I'm not sure it's super common (a lot of martial builds that get posted seem to be heavily nocht or technique focused, even when dipping a few points into aim would cause a pretty serious damage spike), but it does show up.
