I think Apophis should be nerfed.
I'm not the biggest fan of nerfs in general, but Apophis is too good. He's so strong that there's barely a reason to use anyone else! It's not just the dozens of free stat points (which is great) it's the On Kill prayer charges meaning that you can use multiple Divine Interventions per floor! The downside is really to weak to matter, especially as your going to be resisting damage primarily through Divine Intervention anyway!

There's also the dude (Oros, I think) that turns all your items into 1 encumbrance 0 inflexibility, and fist weapons. That is at least as strong.

well keep in mind that is not an online competitive arpg where everything has to be superbalanced, i expect and accept some grade of weirdness in a game like this, Illwinter games come to my mind where some unit are just more strong and that's fine, we don't play this kind of game for balance.

Yeah, the problem is that Apophis is currently better than ANY other god with the sole exception of Ikshana if you are running a summoning build. Things don't need to be completely balanced but having a definite absolute always the best option isn't good game design.

yeah I don't like "nerfing" things a lot but apophis hasn't undergone any revisions since getting added --- all the deities have gotten revised in some way and will probably continue to. The first iteration is never exactly what I want, it just often takes the players trying things out to see how to tweak it. Everything I added in that last update (Murmillo, Arjana) will also bear some slight changes, since they are similarly too fresh

How do you get past the first one or two fight with Aphosis? His self damage on getting hit gets him killed every time.

t’s OP because all 3 prayers charge up when an enemy dies, while most gods have 1-2 prayers that can be charged during combat and under different conditions. (also the max charges are quite low to create divine intervention loop.)

I don't necessarily mind the easy divine interventions, but imo his 3rd prayer shouldn't hit the entire map. It's way too easy to just stack some healing, spam nothing but willpower (which also multiplies your healing) while relying on free strength to keep you alive, and spamming his 3rd prayer until the map is dead. tbh his 3rd prayer should probably be something else anyway since its just the 1st prayer but better

It is true that someone who is very experienced and pro with the game will go for those ultra super powerful combos. But for the new players and casual gamers, I think that it is a big part of the charm of the game to discover powerful combos, races or gods, and then mix them with weaker ones and trying finding combinations that work between them

just an opinion about nerfing in a game who gets so much of its fun from being sometimes crazy and unbalanced

I'm generally against nerfing in this kind of game, but I do think the starting three choices (culture, class, god) should have a very rough parity of power or utility. Apophis is, maybe, an order of magnitude better than some of the weaker starting gods?
