This game apparently went through several iterations, because a lot of the reviews here refer to issues not present in the current Version i bought (Nov 2020).

For example, i did not notice any "F2P"/Monetization limitations or even a connection to a server when playing. It's a complete full game as far as i can tell.

It was on sale for 3,99 and for the price of a good burger that is a very good deal.

NSS5 is a player-sim/action-footie game, think old-school sprite-based top-down footie game (Sensible Soccer, Striker, etc.) but you control only your guy, improving him on and off the pitch.
The actual controls are definetely not like sensi though and require some ajusting to. Infact that adjusting period to an analog movement is why i am rewriting this review.

Because this is good stuff that got me hooked.

The combination of basically RP-ing a footie player and an overall enjoyable action footie game is just too good of a premise. Wanna be the diva who constantly provkes the boss? Wanna become the clubs idol and never play for any other club? Wanna play for exotic clubs and transfer every season? You can do all that and play a decent game of OG footie too - With a few issues.

From what i can tell after looking into it, aside from NSS5 being some kind of online game, this used to also be a mobile game at some point (Or still is...? Seriously this franchise is a nightmare to figure out lol).
And this shows. On most modern monitors the buttons are the size of your head, and everything has a very unappealing mobile "vibe".
Possibly also due to its mobile development focus team names cap out at six letters. Yes, seriously, six (!) letters (!). So good luck figuring out who the heck you are supposed to play against. "ASSE" in france took me a while. Did you figure it out?

Another issue stems from the entire online part. From what i read you were supposed to play against other players...soo this was possibly like, an MMO at some point? (Like "Kicks Online"?)
Anyways, as a result of whatever the online portion was, the game has no statistics whatsoever except for your own personal records. No scorer list, no nothing. And that is a real downer, maybe even more than the ugly menus.

In the end this is a damn good game that just screams for a proper remake to get rid of those mobile/online blemishes and to expand the idea.

A couple of things...

1 - This is no way worth the 9.99 price tag - Get this in a sale !!!!
2 - Joypad/controller is a MUST !! You will struggle playing on a keyboard.
3 - Signing in sometime's will not connect DRM .
4 - Abandoned long ago so there is no support.
5 - Old style graphics and play style

I came across a few bugs in 40 hours but none that was game breaking, I quite enjoyed this as it was a simple game
which reminded me of a old playstation 1 footie game.

It has a few things to do like training skills/skill shots, going to the races and betting on horses, gambling at the casino and buying luxury items and properties.

For a 9.99 price tag this lets the reviews go sour which is fair enough as this is way over priced to the extent you are going to feel ripped off.

Get this for under £4 and it's a bargin for an old style footie game !!!!

Even though the trailer does make it look somewhat ridiculous and not very soccer based, the fast based gameplay is very gripping and the gameplay becomes addictive in a flash. Once you get over the initial rookie problems, such as the relatively unwieldy controls and pace of game, it pulls you in and forces you to play for hours. Fantastic game.

This game can be very entertaining and silly. There's really nothing like drinking two pints of beer before starring in a World Cup Final.

I would only buy this game on sale, it's easy, the AI can be very frustrating so you mostly do things on your own during matches, and yet I have over a hundred hours in this game.

i picked my local team and i start as so nooooob player but then later with time

after training and so i got better and i also play for national team etc...

there is bars of relationship for boss , team , friends , GF ...

there is things to buy like phone or car...

i didnt mind the game but i dont really recommend it , its old and there is error will kill your mood and maybe will make you rage


"exception_access_violation" all the time and randomly and when it happens the game will stop working and you have to reopen the game .

New Star Soccer 5 features a decent soundtrack, a basic menu that has a tad bit of a learning curve and simple gameplay that requires a bit of finesse.

The game starts with the player creating a character and choosing a team. After following the tutorial, the player can join in matches against the AI teams. During matches, the player can be penalized and even injured preventing them from playing in the next few matches. After the matches are completed, the player gains funds and can gain/lose reputation among various factions e.g. boss, team, friends, etc.

If the player is not favorable among factions, there is usually some form of consequence on the player, such as a lower "happiness rating", which affects their character's playing performance. The player may participate in mix-and-match mini-games to boost the reputation of factions.

The player may spend their funds in the shop on various items. The vast majority of the items contribute to "lifestyle rating" which aids in finding a girlfriend, which drastically increases the "happiness rating" of the character.

The player may also participate in training to boost the character's stats, which helps in their overall performance during matches.

One of the most amusing aspects of New Star Soccer 5 is the Leader Board. From the Leader Board, you can see your global ranking compared to other players. This makes things competitive, as you can strive to be the #1 player of New Star Soccer 5, globally.

New Star Soccer 5 is a simple, mildly entertaining game with various features. I recommend this game, but I advise you to try out the free version that is available on the website first. This will allow you to see if $15 is a good value for being able to play the game infinitely each day.

I actually really like this game. I'm not much of a sports fan, and even then this game is old, but it's a nice football/soccer player simulation. You play games, you make money, spend money, time, and energy on fans, romantic interests and fellow teammates. You also need to maintain a relationship with your manager! The "gameplay" itself isn't amazing, it's not easy to actually play the ingame matches and be a star player but it's not bad.
