Even with the review look bad I still want to give it a shot
Does anyone else feel this way? It looks too special to ignored it.

It honestly looks great, the game getting 5/10s is surprising. Though the Switch is a weak console, so if performance issues is why points got taken off maybe it will run better on PC.

The performance issues and the visuals are not the problem with the game itself. They're perfectly fine on PC.
The problems are much deeper than that.

The gameplay loop itself, the pointless conversations, and the fact that you have to slog your way through a dark parallel world and a turn-based slide show before the threat starts all over again is the real problem. It turns out to be a dull stats simulator rather than a good JRPG / Visual Novel.

I'll still be getting it, but I'm not expecting it to be Game of the Year to begin with.

It's not a bad game by any means. If you go into it with the right expecations you can have fun, but if you're expecting a turn-based JRPG and a good Visual Novel - you're expecting too much... way too much.

I am still interest in the execution.

Of course, feel free to try.
Just sharing my thoughts. :)

Honestly? I was looking forward to this, but looking at the reviews... maybe go hit up a Persona game instead.

I'm itching for a new jRPG to play through and saw this coming up, but looking at the reviews and price I don't think so. There's mediocre reviews and then there's 4s and 5s. At $70 cdn? This will probably go on deep discount pretty fast, I'll maybe take a look if it drops by 50%.

I wonder if 2 hours is enough to experience all gameplay mechanics, if I don't like it I'll refund.

Yes. You'll by then get a huge junk of the gameplay loop and already did you first few fights in order to judge if you like it or not.
It's a confusing mess and you'll have to get used to it and once you do its fine. That takes more than 2 hours though.
2 hours will give you a good view on what to expect because the only thing that will change is:

Bosses & Converstations.
Everything else stays the same basically.

Was interested but not for that price point, will pick it up in a year when it's dirt cheap.
got the celestial edition on switch and gonna give it a try. Kind of a bummer so many reviewers from websites and/or youtube panned it for being so flawed and anti-grinding, but I guess they never played older games like Romancing SaGa before, also with very anti-grinding mechanics (such as missing events if you spend too much time fighting and stat ups being completely RNG). It might be a cult classic later, it might not, but it still baffles me it's universally panned when at least it's structurally sound, unlike AAA releases like Redfall or filled with broken promises like Overwatch 2.

i just refunded it because the combat was too easy, i prefer challenging and engaging combat in my games. also the game is low budget af, and super choppy combat. if these things dont bother u then go for it and play it for the story and relationships

Well Etrian Odyssey Origin Collection just released and those were the hardest games in the series supposedly.
