Crash on start up. Termination code:5
[FIXED]

Can anyone help me out? Whenever i click on the play button I get a white screen, my cursor changes in the tera cursor and then the game crashes. I get the message: Termination code 5. DirectX could not be found or is corrupted.

I have Directx 12 installed.
My drivers should be up to date.
I already tried the repair tool(or verify files)
I could play just fine a couple of days ago and then a windows update happened, maybe that has something to do with it?

Hi,

You bet it has something to do with your latest Windows update. Do you not have a restore point to revert this update and see if the problem persists?
Have you tried all solutions to other issues from here (read the description first):
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=865109082 You can contact Tera Support[tera.support.gameforge.com] at any time as well.

Good luck! o/

Sadly the video didn't help, I tried uninstalling the latest updates and restarting my pc but it didn't help either.

The only other thing I could do for you is troubleshooting this with you over TeamViewer. Or you can wait for Support's response.

Been 2 months - got only vague memories. Last thing we wrote on Discord was TeamViewer details, so I guess the rest happened over voice chat.
Upon rereading the opening post, I'd imagine it was either a screen resolution issue and/or corrupted config files. If the latter applies, then I must have given him my files which fixed the problem. I just don't remember, sorry.
I recently (semi-)read on the forum about another possible solution but it was in the German section, so not mega clear since I don't speak that language.

Np, I think (not really sure) that the problem here is that my games + steam included are on another partition, which makes them not finding my directX installation.
This is why most games I install ask to install directX, although I already have the latest one.
Since Windows 10 installs and updates DirectX automatically via Windows Update..

I could be totally wrong of course, because my solution to copy a directX folder from another game folder, who did ask to install, to the Tera folder didn't work.

I fixed it.
Windows 10 has fullscreen optimizations.
I noticed it when playing another game and changing it to fullscreen made it crash.
So just went to the properties of the launcher, compatibility tab, check disable fullscreen optimizations.

That's the fix I mentioned above.
Tera kann wegen Directx nicht gestartet werden[board.tera.gameforge.com]

Thank you for coming back to share your findings and practically confirm it's a possible reason for this particular error! o/

what version of windows are you running?
I used to play this years ago when I was running XP, since then I've changed IP's, upgraded my system (and forgot my log-on details), more memory, better graphics. just discovered it's on steam, so I installed it, and 2 BSD's just over an hour. just installed the latest graphic driver yesterday so it can't be that (all I can think of is the latest peace of crap from micro$oft AKA windows 10). I un-installed all the crap i dont need, Micro$oft just re-installed it, I un-installed it again and Micro$oft just re-installed it, up-dated it and added more crap.
