I find it surprising that people are confused as to what FTL is supposed to mean, since the words Faster Than Light are right there on the game menu in STEAM.

I find the letters MFK that are stencilled on some of the enemy ships even more mysterious. MFK? The Urban Dictionary provides some ideas for MF that mesh well with a lot of Quentin Tarantino dialogue, but I was wondering if there was more to MFK than PFM. Does anybody know?

Don't recall ever noticing any MFK on the hull of any ships. Then again, I have been too busy either trying to stay alive or pummeling another ship to take much interest in what's typed on the side of their hulls.

Also, PFM?

I too have been wondering about the meaning of MFK. It`s right there on the flipping Flagship, It must have some special meaning.
My first thought was that it is an abbreviation for some Latin phrase, but Latin has no K. Another possible language to look in might be German, considering the Rebels general attitude and philosophy, but nothing comes to mind there either.

Could just stand for Mother $@#!ing King. Would seem fitting for that particular ship.

IIRC the writing is superimposed over an eagle. Not exactly a "royal" symbol in and of itself. Royal heraldry is more likely to incorporate lions and dragons. Of course, I may be giving the devs too much credit.
If it is meant to invoke royalty or emperors it would reinforce the theory that MFK is something German. Reichsadler and all that. But there is, as far as I know, no German phrase or word combination that fits. We could just ask the devs...

The crest looks like a very cartoony heraldic eagle with a small shield in front. On the shield are capital letters arranged M on top and FK underneath. Sometimes this crest shows up on the smaller ships, but it's also definitely a feature of the flagship.

PFM = Pure Fornicating* Magic. It's military slang. "We Aim By PFM" is on the nose art of the second Sulaco drop ship "Smart Donkey*" from the 1986 movie Aliens - for example.

MFK in aviation slang is "Multi Function Knob". That also fits to my mind. I hope someone has already asked the devs about MFK.

*Obviously similar meaning words that STEAM blocks out.
