you want to get an engi, or something with more health, in there, because the time it takes to repair it will kill a regular human

unlike system repairs, you don't have to stay in until it's done, you can repair it half way, pull out to the medbay and get back in. opening doors also helps as soon as it's about half way repaired.

send in everyone and then as the health gets low bring them out one at a time to the medbay. If you need it fixed do this, otherwise just leave it untill later.

I don't think the air will rush in from the rooms next to it.. BUG? might be

Get a repair drone. It won't be affected by lack of oxygen and can free up your crewmen during combat.
