how to beat this, even easy is impossible.
have played around 50 matches now, and got to the "second system" only 2 time (TWO) on easy, most hardest is first move, usually get REBEL RIGGER against that has 1 drone + fire missiles that wipes my ship in few second, fires so much that crew cant handle, and opening blast doors to suffocate them wont work either, cause systems are broken, and more missiles pouring in, need easier difficulty level !

Upgrade your shields and engines before anything else. In the start defence is by far priority number 1, or you risk getting crushed very quickly.

I can get to the boss, then I get spanked badly! On EASY! I like a challenge but this game is trolling me on easy!!

The game has a lot of luck involved in it. I have yet to beat the boss but I'm getting better at it. Still a fun game even if I haven't beaten yet.

One word: Pause

There is no shame in doing so, and is how and when you make your decisions.

Shields are your best friend in this situation, if you focus on those first (having at least 2 by the end of the first section) you should be good.

Don't put yourself down for not beating the game just yet. It's a roguelike-like, it's certainly not as easy as most games. The tips I can suggest are:
  • Get the Kestrel B. It's generally agreed to be more versatile and powerful than the Kestrel A, and is relatively easy to get.
  • Pause frequently and manage your systems wisely. You have plenty of oxygen; rerouting your life support to the weapons won't be fatal unless you forget to turn it back on.
  • Don't spider. Not even once. The Alien Spiders and Zoltan Eye are the most likely events to kill your :ftlhuman:, as well as anything Mantis-related.
  • Don't take stupid chances, but don't be too cautious. The game expects you to lose; a daring barrage of lasers may get you killed but it may win you the game.
  • Don't underestimate your crew. An experienced :ftlhuman: can give you massive bonuses to your systems.
I could give plenty more, but there are many guides on how to start off. Try flicking through a few of them! Good luck!

Autopilot upgrades protect you from a stray missile hitting your pilot section knocking out all your evasion. There is also a 'blue event' if you go to ion storms without ships (with about 50% occurence - the other event that can be here is a hidden Auto Scout) that can give either free crew, free weapon, or nothing.

I kind of agree with the OP, "easy" difficulty for this game is equivalent to some games "hard" difficulty.

Use some of the guides to help you, they are very useful for all players involved.
And remember when you get utterly screwed over by some horrific sequence of events, just think about what you could have done better.
This game uses the "learn by failing" approach so don't be put out if you do fail.

The challenge is what makes this the perfect strategy on easy

Huh, I didn't realise that. Something new every day, eh?

You mean they reduce the chance. Drones are the only way to truly protect against missiles, aren't they? And quite a few people recommend ignoring drones with Kestrel. How on earth they survive missile lockdown I'll n ever know...

I mean in the sense that you have pilotting level 1 and a 1 damage missile hits pilotting. Pilotting is now destroyed and so your evasion goes to 0% until it is repaired. Now repeat the above scenario with level 2 pilotting, pilotting becomes 'damaged' but not destroyed. Because pilotting still has a crew member you get the full benefit of engines and engine manned bonus, but lose the pilots manned bonus because he is busy repairing pilotting.

You can of course repeat the above scenario with a barrage capable of penetrating shields, or a beam weapon about to penetrate existing shields, or bombs etc.

If you buy all the systems early the RNG will have more chances to fill the shop with good loot. As far as I recall the shop always seem to have systems as an option until you buy them all.

The game is hard, very hard, But thats something I like. 55 hours, and 6 ship unlocks later I've yet to beat the game. An easier game simply can't do that for me.
