A Gundam Mod For FTL
I'm a big Gundam fan and I love FTL, recently i had an idea to combine FTL and Gundam into a FTL Gundam Mod. But problem is i don't know how to mod and i would like some tips. But i'll get ahead with the concept.

The game will remain orginally the same except you are now running from Zeon (SIEG ZEON) instead of the Rebels. You control ships such as White Base, The Raddish, Argama, and others from the UC world with stuff like Ptolymey and Arch angel being an unlock able.

The alien types will be changed so they represent crew members.
Humans will be Conscripts
Mantis will be Soldiers
Engi will be Engineers
Zoltan will be pilots
Rockmen will be Technicians
Slugs will be new Types

Weapon wise, missiles will stay enact how beam weapons will stay the same. They will undergo name changing and remodeling.

Shields will be replaced with mionvsky Shielding.

The Drone bay will be changed into a hangar and you can only power it up by using Pilots (aka Zoltans) they'll need to be need remodeling for the drones.

There's much i would like to add however i would like to keep it simple.

Personally i would like to add command for drones, remove teleporters and other such stuff.

By not knowing how to mod what do you mean? Do you have any experience with spinning these files around, XML(or any other similar language) or creating/altering graphic assets, because if not it is a rather steep learning curve.

That said there a few very easy things you can do with FTL; the biggest easily being making your own ships with one of the tools in the official forums. http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2959 , there is one that works.

Yeah I´ve been looking through the tutorial and actually it seems rather easy to copy/paste for simple event creation. Even if you have no previous experience.

And do look at the other total conversion mods in the official forums(http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/) to see what can/can´t be done and other details.

Still a final advice for now; start small. Make a ship or 2 and get them working. Change a couple of names or events. Small steps, perseverance and unlimited copy/paste go a long way.

If it were me designing it, i would make the deployed drones into mobile suits, because they leave your ship and attack the enemy's. You would be able to change whether or not to have your ms's go after your enemy ship, or defend yours from their ms's. Of course, gundams would be in it, and they would be either a very expensive purchase in the engi homeworlds, or a special event, like the crystal alien. The gundams would be nearly indestructible, but take like 4 or 5 energy to run. Also, you would need to have a crew member in each ms to use it.
I would agree with you thats what i had in mind.
