Space tactics with ship upgrades, reactor power management, various weapons and shield generators, hacking, targeting enemy equipment, crew management etc

You could try The Last Starship. One guy who said he hates FTL said he also hates TLS for the same reasons, so maybe it's similar enough. Also, it's very early access, so a ton of stuff doesn't work super well. I'm having a ton of fun with it, but you should definitely watch a couple of videos (maybe some of Johnny Struggles' work) and maybe wait for another update or two (or sale) before buying.
