FTL menu causes my comp to make noises
This is kinda odd and new (Didn't do this before). When im exactly on the Menu Screen my computer makes some kind of high screech type noise. I tried to pinpoint the sound and I believe it's coming from the harddrive. What's strange though that it ONLY happens when im in the FTL menu. The second I click options or continue game, the sound goes away. Also no other game of mine makes my computer do this sound.

Does this sound odd to anyone? Im going to do a harddrive check tomorrow as im really tired right now.

Specs of your machine?
Are you playing windowed or fullscreen?
Is vsync enabled/disabled?
Is frame limit enabled/disabled?

Wow, I swear it did this two days in a row. Now when I checked for those settings it didn't do it. For those settings though, it was a fresh install again because I reformatted so it was the default settings: Vsync Disabled, Frame Limit Disabled. Though that wouldn't matter because it was literally ONLY the menu which is wierd. Window mode as well.

Also doubt it's my specs.

i5-4570
GTX 650 Ti boost
8 GB DDR 3 RAM

Something funny is going on with my computer I guess because I also just found out that only loading up maps in the game Mechwarrior Online does the noise too but goes away. All other games and idling is fine. (All Valve games, Planetside 2, Warthunder, Starcitizen hangarmodule, Bioshock, ect)

My computer used to make a high screech if I scrolled a webpage up or down in internet exploreer or firefox. If iremember correctly some games made it happen too. Turned out that it was the power source making the screech so I RMA'd it. I for ages could not determine if it was the hard drive, processor, video card or what! I used a cardboard core to my ear to help determine the component making the noise.

It's probably your videocard, mine doing these sounds too wneh it renders extremely high framerate, vsync or fps limit should fix this issue.

Does the same to me; never happened in any other game

Evolve is correct, it's called coil whine. It can be annoying, but it's not actually a problem of any sort.

Many cards have it to some degree, often the noise is just drowned out. It will also come/go with time, but there's not much you can do about it besides replace the component that's making it, or try limiting your frame rate.

This guy explains it.
