Then again hacking with 3 weapons isn't bad either, you just need to end the fights faster before you take too much damage.
Well, I could use the Hacker to take out the med bay, but then it's not available to use against other important rooms. So I basically need enough firepower to get shots to the med bay?
Yup. Thats you only alternative if you wish to deal with the med bay.
Or you can hack the medbay and kill the enemy crew with their own medbay.
Please start from my first post and note the word "alternative".
The reason is that the hacker just by being there locks the doors. The crew will ALWAYS go after your crew unless they're low health and there's no O2 or a fire in the room the boarders are in. They'll bust down the door to the room to go attack them, get in a fight, and then by the time they try to retreat to the medbay the door will be closed again and they'll be trapped and killed. When you need to you can pull the boarders out again, and if the hacked room was a high importance room (pilot, shields mostly) one will force their way in to man it and be trapped again by the time you teleport back in. Stage 1 boss I usually find hacking the cloaker to be the most valuable target, both for attacking the ship and for attacking the crew. If you're boarding, teleport into the cloaker or the doors room (you can move between both of them freely with the hacker anyway) and just exterminate the crew one by one. They have 2 doors they have to bust down to get from the doors room to the medbay, they're not going anywhere. Stage 2 and 3 obviously don't matter for that since if you're boarding you'll have killed the whole crew other than the laser gunner already. Another option is hacking shields. That leaves the pilot room with 2 doors to go through (and is the highest priority room so it'll always be occupied)
Except that isn't the only alternative. You can also Mind Control someone in the medbay and have them wreck it or, alternately, get killed by their own shipmate.
